I worked with Denis in the ED at NVMC. Dennis was an intelligent, practical, private man. He had no patience for foolishness. Every success was self-achieved. Dennis was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. He was not boastful about this; most people never knew this about Dennis. Dennis was also a dichotomy: He was mischievous yet wise. He was casual yet had a refined sense of quality. He was impatient yet had so much patience and empathy for the elderly or the poor patients that he encounterd in the ED. A funny ED story is that Dennis was always especially nice to an elderly female patient who always told Dennis that he looked like Chuck Norris. Naturally, his peers could not resist teasing him. I loved teasing Dennis. Also, he always laughed at himself and took most everything in stride. I liked that about Dennis. My husband and I are thankful for knowing Dennis and will surely miss him. -Mary (and John) Majkut
