JONATHAN MARK Obituary

MARK, Jonathan Beloved Husband, Brother, Uncle Jonathan Samuel Mark died at his home in Alexandria, VA, on November 11, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Cambridge, MA, on June 19, 1953, Jon earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. He also earned a Masters Degree in Urban Planning, a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering, and a PhD in Systems Engineering from UVA, where he met his beloved wife of 34 years, Gayelynn Taxey. He programmed for the federal government and various defense contractors, and after retiring, he built websites for political candidates. Jonathan loved all animals, especially dogs, and he was a passionate supporter of the State of Israel. Jonathan loved music and he studied the bass guitar. He and his wife were a musical rhythm section with Jonathan on bass and Gayelynn on drums. Jonathan was proud to have been permanently suspended from Twitter long before Elon Musk. Besides his wife, Jonathan leaves two brothers in Massachusetts: Peter (Lynn) and David (Paula), as well as nieces Sarah and Allison and nephews Joshua, Zachary, and Ian. His niece Melissa predeceased him.
