I just learned of Mr. Bannon passing away. He was my woodwork teacher at WHS 1962-65. He always encouraged me to try new things and taught me so very much as to what is right and wrong. He gave me a great deal of confidence by letting me adjust the power tool equipment in the woodwork shop. He was the first person who ever referred to me as Frankie. He encouraged me to go to college-specifically Wentworth Institute. His encouragement and support were very important to me during those years and I carry that encouragement with me to this day. To the sons of Joe, go my deepest sympathy for your loss. Your dad was one of my first administrators as a new teacher at WHS, and he always treated me fairly and with respect--- a true professional and a genuinely "nice guy". He will be missed.

Joe Bannon was one of the finest people I interacted with during my years in the Watertown Schools. As a mentor to many students, he knew when to push a student, when to discipline someone and when to tread lightly.
I am at The Masters with my son so I cannot make the services. While I wish I could be with his great family, I also know that Joe, as an avid golfer, would definitely approve!

Peter,
Whenever there was an O'Dowd family reunion or O'Dowd wedding in Montreal, who would always be one of the first people to confirm – Margaret and Joe Bannon. We have many happy memories of your parents attending functions that required traveling to Montreal.
Uncle Joe would sit back and give the floor to your mother when she'd be around her brothers & sisters. Uncle Joe would smile and you could tell that he was happy that he was making Aunt Margaret happy.
