My family and I send our deepest condolences. I met Mr. Pace only once about 20 years ago and he left and unforgettable impression on me. I will always remember him fondly as a kind, friendly, generous man. I was visiting Boston for the first time with a couple of my friends and we were staying in an apartment above one of his stores. I went in to introduce myself because we did business with him (still do) and he couldn't have been kinder or more generous. He took us around the North End. He knew everybody!...and everybody loved him! My friends and I joked with him calling him the mayor. He gave us food to take back to the apartment and bought us all sweatshirts. I will never forget how wonderful he was to us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Dear Angela and family,

My heart is broken; I just found out about Joe's passing and am so sorry to have missed his funeral Joe was such a wonderful person and every time that I saw him that spirit of hospitality and concern for my family was his concern too. Joe did so much for me and he loved his Italian heritage and helped so many people, including me. I will miss him. He was gracious to a fault. He has no doubt left an impression on so many people. I am grateful that he was a part of my life. Rest Joe. God bless.

Thinking of Joe everyday!!! I and our group of guys, the Baccalas, meet almost every morning. We continue to fondly speak of Joe recalling heartfelt memories. We speak of all of our animated discussions and recite the great stories Joe would tell. Those great stories of his early days in the North End and the hilarious interactions with friends over the years are what we lovingly recount. Somehow there is a feeling he is still with us in spirit which gives us great comfort. And as we approach the Super Bowl and cheer on the Patriots, that Joe was so enthusiastic about, there's a feeling we continue to watch the games together. Joe would call me during half time, after the game and we would discuss what happened the day after. We continue to talk about the games and it seems he's listening with that sparkle in his eyes that we will never forget. God bless Joe! Always in our thoughts and prayers.

As the now Matriarch of the Polcari family I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Joe Pace! Tony always spoke very highly of Mr. Pace, and loved working for him. God bless them both, and may they RIP.

Our family was saddened by the news of Joe's passing. We were thrilled to meet him when he first opened in Saugus, and Pace's always felt like home, just like Nonna's kitchen. We lost my Dad on December 23rd, many years ago, and know the pain a Christmas loss brings.
A dear old friend of mine once said that my Dad was taken on Christmas, because God knew with our deep love of the Christmas season, we would be able to make it through. I hope these words give you some comfort, as they did us.
God bless, and give you comfort from all the wonderful memories you had.
Thank you, Joe for all the Christmas parties you catered for me over the years. You were the best.

I'm sorry to hear that Joe was called home . But know that Joe is not alone and in no pain. surrounded by Loved ones called home before that have been waiting. We will all miss the smiles and hugs Joe greeted you with. Joe is guided by God's light of Love. The Love that guides us all to those called home already. We will all miss Joe until it's our turn to be called home. though it is true that we will not feel the hug nor see the smiles but they are still here through Love . In Gods world the words death and dead are replace by eternal there is only eternal life spent with all that are home. and on earth Joe lives on in our hearts . Joe your a great man until we meet again.

Angela and family,

The man he was... Amazing! Short story, many years ago a far fetched idea of a "Pumpkin Patch" to appear at the Oaklandvale School was brought to Joe. Without a blink of an eye Joe made it happen, donating pumpkins for all the students! Many students never saw one before, much less be able to pick the perfect pumpkin without worrying about cost. So much joy for both children and staff alike was brought by the Pumpkin Patch. That first year, several students went to the store to say "thank you" (then at Village Park). All I can remember is Joe's arms open wide wide and saying " and now, cupcakes for Thanksgiving"! Joe sent enormous cupcakes for every child at Oaklandvale. He adopted Oaklandvale and has continued the Pumpkin Patch tradition. I am honored to have met and known such a great kind man who was incredibly kind hearted and uniquely sensitive to children. His legacy will live forever in my and many others hearts. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

I am so sad to hear of Joe's passing. He was such a great guy. My father who was a printer was friends with joe. That's how they met. My dad would do printing for paces. Hillside press. I go to paces every week. It's the best. I would sometimes bring my special needs brother with me as I would have him for day and I needed to go shopping. Joe always made me feel welcome. Sometimes my brother Joey would have a hard time being in the store. Too many people. He would become overstimulated. And start yelling. Or become agitated. Joe would always tell me u bring him anytime. He is always welcome here. He would always have one of the guys go to bakery and get two cupcakes for Joey. No charge. He was so sweet. Even when I went there without Joey he would ask me. How's my friend. I would say he good joe. He would make sure I got cupcakes for him and not charge me. I hope joe u in a better place. With no pain. You were such a wonderful guy. I am lucky to have known you. I send my deepest condolences to your family. Heaven has another angel. ❤
