So sorry to learn of Uncle Joe's passing. I have so many vivid childhood memories of him -- mostly when we celebrated holidays at Grandma Zukas's house on Bristol Street. I remember Uncle Joe playing with his young nieces and nephews and laughing when we messed up his hair, then using his pocket comb to fashion new hairstyles -- over and over and over.

Way back in the 1950s, I have to credit Uncle Joe with sparking my interest in electronics. Joe had a small workshop in the Bristol Street basement where he tinkered with resistors, capacitors, and state-of-the-art transistors. I was fascinated by the circuits he created.

Also, Uncle Joe was among the first to experiment with high-fidelity stereo playback. He modified Grandma's old-fashioned monaural record player by installing a stereo cartridge and stylus, then adding an amplifier and speaker. I'm guessing this happened around 1955, and it worked splendidly. I was amazed to hear stereo for the first time in Grandma's living room.

Uncle Joe will always live in our hearts and prayers.
