JOY A. GOMBOSSY

GOMBOSSY, Joy A. Age 86, of Durham, NH, formerly of Danvers, MA, died March 29, 2021. She was the wife of 16 years to Albert B. Gombossy and the former widow of the late William Bellows.

Born in Somerville, MA and raised in Middleton, she was the daughter of the late Hans and Lillian (Nascemento) Blumberg.

Joy graduated from Danvers High School and attended Boston University. Before graduating, her father insisted that she leave her studies and help run the family business, the Blumberg Company of Newburyport, a factory that manufactured oils for the leather industry. Joy was with the company for over 30 years, eventually becoming President, a position that very few women would have held at the time. She was often thought to be the "clerk" to many of her male associates.

Joy balanced her role as a business woman, a wife and a mother of four.

She was always fond of pets and had as many as four Weimerheimers in her care. Following her retirement, she and Albert enjoyed travelling throughout Europe and Canada.

Joy was the wonderful and loving mother of William L. Bellows of Sequim, WA, Kurt E. Bellows of Durham, NH and the late Alex B. Bellows and Stephanie A. Bellows. She was the sister of the late Ludwig Blumberg.

Interment will be in the family lot in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.
