JUDITH CHASE Obituary

CHASE, Judith Sylvester Hall Age 87, died January 8, 2022 at home. She is healthy again, reunited with her loved ones in Heaven and home with our Heavenly Father. Judy was born in Pittsfield, MA, May 18,1934. She was raised in Norwell, MA by her parents, James P. Hall and Louisa V. Sylvester Hall. Judy attended her local public school in Norwell, until she transferred to Walnut Hill boarding school. She furthered her education at Bradford Junior College and Wheelock College. She graduated with a degree in education. Judy's teaching degree followed her from the east coast to the west coast. Judy taught in Seattle, WA, Rochester, NY and settled her career at the New Nursery School in Norwell. Judy volunteered at the South Shore Natural Science Center, where she taught, as well as explored the wonders of nature. Judy loved adventure, new experiences, traveling to Tokyo, Bermuda, Montserrat, St. Thomas, Greece, Germany, Canada, and many of the 50 states. She also loved her family. Judy loved to try new things and was fun to have around. She was a hostess and loved to do for others. She was the Norwell anchor after her parents died. From Stetson Road to Cedar Point, Judy enjoyed family and friends. An amazing mother & friend, loving grandmother & aunt, faithful daughter & sister, Judy was a caregiver by nature. She was widely known to give the shirt off her back; she gave so generously. Judy was a caregiver to many! Judy loved animals, even though she had allergies. Gretchen was her 120 pound St. Bernard. She farmed pigs, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and a goat with her children. Her fear of cats didn't stop her from allowing her daughter to have two. Wonderful cook, an avid reader, great listener, fond of gardening, had a natural rhythm which only encouraged her love to dance, artistic, a graceful tennis player, held her own at a bridge table, and she was oh so very ticklish! She loved her time at the Unitarian and Methodist churches. She was partner with her Allan in Shaklee Corp, known as the J&A Group, selling health and beauty products. She was a loyal member of Al-Anon and the WANAs (we are not alone). Judy welcomed an instant family with her marriage to Allan. Four independent, uniquely diverse, young individuals who Judy embraced immediately and grew boundless love for. She loved her hockey. Cheering on the Bruins from Madison Square Garden Club, in the Boston Garden, with her Allan, and then becoming a supportive hockey mom to her son. She was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Allan H. Chase; and two sons, Bryan P. Chase and Jeffrey F. Chase. She is survived by her children Allan "Lanny" H. Chase, Jr. (Shelley), Julie "Missy" HC Brown (Chris), Amy LC Clark (Steve), and Richard "Rick"' S. Chase (Nina); her siblings Thomas P. Hall (Camie), Diane "Dinny" KH Polson (Alex, predeceased), and P. Dinzey Hall (Lorraine); loving nieces and nephews; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, May 21, 2022. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Church Hill Methodist Church fellowship hall, 11:30-1:30pm (11 Church Street, Norwell). The celebration will continue to Barnstable, 3pm, at Lothrop Hill Cemetery (route 6A). Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will have life even though they die." ~John 11:25
