June Fries Obituary

June G. Fries, age 80, of Aberdeen, MD, passed away on August 8, 2012 at Perry Point VA Hospital in Perryville, MD. Born in Winston-Salem, NC, he was raised by his stepfather the late Mr. Luther Bond and his mother the late Alberta Fries Bond. Raised in a family of nine children he had three brothers Thermond Bond, William Lloyd Bond, Clovis Bond and six sisters Sarah Elizabeth Gresham, Mae Frances McCoy, Louise Harrell, Josephine Fields, Anita Thomas and Francine Williams. He was married for 29 years to the late Mary E. McCleary Fries and is survived by his sons, Fred A. McCleary of Columbus, OH, Michael G. Fries of Pasadena, MD and Harold Anthony Fries of Baltimore, MD; daughters, Sharon L. Fries-Britt of Mitchellville, MD and Renata June Fries of Woodlawn, MD; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A veteran of the U.S. Army he had a distinguished military career spanning 31 years. He was a member of the National Explosive Ordnance Disposal Association (ANTEODA) and the V.F.W. in Aberdeen. Mr. Fries was the recipient of numerous awards including the United States Secret Service Director's Honors Award and the Jimmy Carter Service Award. Mr. Fries was often consulted for his explosive expertise from the Baltimore City Police and the Maryland Arson Investigators Association. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 8219 Town Center Drive, Baltimore, MD 21236-0025.
