KARL MUELLER Obituary

MUELLER, (Uve) Karl Founder/Owner/President, Source International, Corp. Uve Karl Mueller, founder of Source International, Corp., Sutton, MA, died at the age of 73, Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Rose Monahan Hospice, Worcester, MA. He was born in Magdeburg, Germany, on April 8, 1948, to Erwin and Ilse (Munkwitz) Muller. He was predeceased by both his parents and a sister, Barbara Muller. He is survived by his brother, Peter and sister-in-law, Brigitta (Gitti) Muller, Bonn, Germany; one niece, Heike Muller; and four great-nieces. Cherished husband of Renee Dutko Mueller, he was the beloved father of, Heidi Forget and her daughters, Kaytlin and Julianne of Douglas, MA, Michelle Mueller of Kent, Ohio and Eric Mueller and his wife Angela (Larassa) and their two children, Sophia and Tage of Sutton, MA. He was the most admired and respected stepfather of Bethany Bailey, Shrewsbury, MA, and her children Sabrina and Vaughan Bailey, and Aaron Wandell and his wife, Amy (Caulfield) Wandell of Candia, NH. He founded Source International Corp. in Shrewsbury, MA, in 1984. With a cadre of managers and a team of great employees, Karl, as Owner/President, grew Source, in all aspects, until the business required a larger facility, hence the move to its current location, in Sutton, MA. Always a lover of the sea, he joined the German Merchant Marine at age 15. Being a seaman on any ship, in any waters, at any time, were his true loves. He realized his lifelong dream when he purchased his first boat, a used 45 foot Hatteras, already named, "Entitled." He laughed that we weren't clever enough to have named her, but he kept the name just the same as that word was a private joke for us. His second boat, also named, "Entitled" was a semi-custom lobster style boat with a Wesmac hull, built in the finest tradition of Maine boat builders. We loved her. Over the years, he took her from our home port of Jamestown, RI, south to the Florida Keys and then North, through rivers, canals, and locks to Ottawa and through the canals, rivers and lakes back to various marinas in New England. He particularly enjoyed renting a boat (or four) to cruise the Shannon and Erne Rivers in Ireland. Once, we took most of our adult children, their partners and children on such a cruise. In his words, "It beat Disney." He had a massive collection of mostly rock music and he spent endless hours creating mix CDs for his personal enjoyment for long car trips. If he had to travel by car, he was going to have his choice of tunes. Although he was not outwardly demonstrative, he did greatly enjoy our family tradition of Christmas Eve dinner with all our children and grandchildren. He looked forward to it every year. What will be most missed by many who knew him, is his integrity, generosity, sense of fair play and his ability to empathize with anyone who came into his sphere. He also had a knack for cutting to the chase in all things and with surgical precision excise any bunk that threatened or was contrary to attaining a solid bottom line. Also possessed of a dead-on ability to look at any spreadsheet and in under 10 seconds, his M.O. was to point and say," There's your problem, now fix it." Never one who enjoyed being the center of attention, Karl wanted no Memorial Service but suggested at some time in the future, family and friends should just have a big party. It is a sore loss that a man of his caliber is no longer among us.
