Kathy Kane and I worked together for six years organizing and managing the International Business Protocol Breakfasts at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel International Festival (1989-1994). She was and is my favorite colleague ever. Not a moment of wasted time of effort. Our executive meetings lasted 10 minutes: "You do this, I'll do that, see you on Thursday morning". She was and is a gem.

I have been away from Beacon Hill for the past six months and just heard today that Katharine passed. She was so bright and lively; I played bridge with her and will miss the time spent together. Noreen

We were immensly saddened to learn of the death of Kathy Kane whom both of us first met when she was still a distinguished student at Smith. Several years later we also were introduced to her beloved Louie Kane shortly after their marriage. In the past 50+ years, Kathy and Lou have been among our dearest friends on earth and our lives were indelibly enriched by their presence. We shared a series of remarkable vacations together in France, Italy and Ireland and kept our contacts vital notwithstanding our move nearly 30 years ago to Seattle. Our special condolences and love reach out to all their family members and, particularly, Holliday, Jennifer and Joe.

KDK, as we affectionately call/called her, was my partner in the International Business Protocol breakfasts at the Ritz-Carlton International Cultural Festival that ran from 1989 through 1994. I brought her an idea. She, and her team, caused it to happen. Our executive meetings were "you do this, I'll do that, see you next week". The Ritz loved our series so much they told us they used it as the example of how an event could look at the Ritz. I couldn't have done it without Kathy. Much love to her and to her family and associates with whom I worked.

As the children's Nannie 63-65 and living in the Kane household one had to learn about Boston politics.
Kathy was the best teacher.
Very sorry to hear of her passing.

She was a trailblazer. She managed through the core of the feminist movement with grace, discipline and a continuous sense of purpose . Kathy taught us real leadership. I am better because of my time with KDK.

Kathy was a treasured fellow "older" classmate at HDS and a Clinical Pastoral Education colleague at MGH. Her brilliant mind and compassionate heart -- as well as her hostess's instincts! -- enriched us all. May her family be comforted by memories and stories -- and by the knowledge that she helped so many people whose names she never even knew.

The smiley icons on internal KDK notes to staff were the really precious ones at Boston 200, where Kathy always got a kick out of mail incorrectly addressed to the Boston Zoo. We certainly did have a wonderful and wild time working on Kathy Kane's brilliant visions.

Mrs. Kane was a wonderful hostess when I visited her Ogunquit home several times over the years. She was a generous, incredibly classy, and super intelligent woman.

Kathy was one of the kindest people I worked with in the White Administration. She had a very common sense and down to earth approach which made working with her a joy.

Kathy was very important in my life. Not only a longtime, and very hospitable friend to me and my family , but a wonderful boss, through whose employment I moved from school teaching into the wider world of adults doing exciting things.
