KAY JOHNSON Obituary

JOHNSON, Kay F. (Lupien) Age 64, passed away after a courageous 4 year battle with ovarian cancer on December 7, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Gerald (Jerry) Johnson for 41 years and a devoted mother to her son Ryan of Waltham.

Kay was a 38 year employee of MIT Lincoln Laboratory and a member and past president of Billerica Garden Club. She organized and operated the Billerica Farmer's Market for nine years. She was the Billerica Boys and Girls Club Woman of the Year in 2015 and the Billerica Council on Aging Senior of the Year in 2018.

Kay was passionate about her past Victorian teas at First Parish Church, a tradition that lasted ten years. She loved her 7,000 plus beloved daffodils placed throughout the Town Center, as well as hanging the flag buntings and Christmas decorations on the Town Gazebo with her friends from the Billerica Club. Besides her husband and son, she is survived by her siblings Randy and his partner Sharon of Ashburnham, Jim and his partner Sheila of ME, April and her husband Steve of AZ, Colleen and her husband Keith of NC, Heidi and her son Luke of RI, and her sister-in-law Barbara Johnson of Belmont, as well as many nieces and nephews and her dogs Zella and Duke. She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Shirley Lupien of Gardner and her sister Patty Kelly of CA.

Sincere thanks to Lowell General Hospital, Lowell General Cancer Center, Dana-Farber/Brigham Cancer Center, Care Dimensions Hospice, and her dear best friend Mary Lawless.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Kay's name to either the Billerica Food Pantry, The Merrimack Valley Food Bank, or your local food pantry.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. I knew Kay through the farmers market and seeing her around town, and always enjoyed talking with her. She had a wonderful smile and always such great ideas. My deepest sympathies to Jerry, Ryan, and the rest of her family and friends. She will be missed.

To Gerry and family, so sorry to hear of Kay's passing. She was such a joy and was a wonderful part of life in Billerica. Her warm smile will be missed but knowing she is in heaven getting the gardens ready for spring with the Lord is comforting. Love to all
