KENNETH PEASE Obituary

PEASE, Kenneth Richard Kenneth Richard Pease died on October 4, 2017 at the age of 81, after a year-long battle with cancer. Ken was born and raised in Iowa and had many fond memories of rural and small-town life. He attended Iowa State University, University of Dubuque, Princeton University, Harvard University, the University of Chicago, and Boston University. He served as a Presbyterian minister for several years before working at Harvard University. For the majority of the remainder of his life he worked as a librarian, serving a portion of this time as the President of the Iowa State Library Association. Before retiring in 2016, he spent the last 20 years of his career working at the Malden Public Library. Ken was an active member of the Masons, and served as a three-term Master of the Harvard Lodge, the only member to ever receive this distinction. He was also the recipient of the Mason's prestigious Joseph Warren Medal in 2007. He enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, reading, and time on the oceanfront in Maine with his loving wife Marilyn. Ken is survived by his wife, Marilyn Cliff-Pease, his son, Paul Marcus, his daughter-in-law, Moying Li-Marcus, his daughter, Sarah Pease, his former wife, Kay Pease, and his brother, Roger Pease. A Memorial Service will be held at the Malden Public Library on Sunday, October 15th at 2:00 pm. Donations can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
