KEVIN MCDONOUGH Obituary

McDONOUGH, Kevin 68, of Hanover, born and raised in South Boston, died suddenly at home on April 3, 2018. He was born on August 17, 1949. Kevin was a Navy Veteran. In the early part of his life, he worked for New England Telephone. Wanting to fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, he was hired by the M.D.C. Police. Kevin then held the honor of becoming a Massachusetts State Trooper. During his career at M.S.P., he was appointed as a Task Force Officer in the Drug Enforcement Administration. Kevin was also the owner and operator of McDonough Paving for over 30 years. He was the son of the late John McDonough, also a police officer, and Kathleen (Joy) McDonough, a war bride. Beloved husband of Karen (Cooper) McDonough for 34 years. A loving father of Patrick M. McDonough and his wife Linda of Marshfield, Kerrie A. Ham of Quincy, Joshua J. Cooper and his wife Beth of Plymouth, and John K. McDonough of Hanover. He was the Proud "Papa" of his 10 grandchildren, Brianna, Bryce, and Baile McDonough, Katie, Emma, and Lilly Cooper, Christopher, Clarence, Jacey, and Joh Joe Ham. He is survived by his four siblings Richard McDonough of Braintree, Kathy Cavanaugh of Braintree, Robert McDonough of Rockland, Sheila McDonough of Braintree, and the late Johnny McDonough. He was the former husband of Barbara McDonough. Kevin is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53, HANOVER, on Sunday from 2-6 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Rte 139, Hanover. Burial will be private. I was sorry to learn of Kevin's passing we attended and graduated together from Christopher Columbus High School in '68. My condolences to the entire family.

So sorry to hear about Kevin. The Scituate Conservation met Kevin because of a mishap with a paving project. He was asked to file with the Scituate Conservation Commission and quickly complied. We enjoyed working with him and liked him a lot. He was a very upbeat, funny and friendly gentleman. He will be missed.
