My favorite picture of Lance in my brother Richs kitchen. Typical Lance fixing breakfast for everyone.

I don't know where to start. I'm still in disbelief. I met Lance over 25 years ago and we've kept in touch over the years. I loved hearing his stories about his travels, his fun times with his family and friends. After all these years I finally got to meet the mysterious Monja. I had wonderful talks with Pat, Tizzie, Janice and Richie. I mentioned to a friend at the Saturday ceremony, why did it have to be the passing of our best friend to bring all these wonderful people together. I remember our trips to Florida. Driving down one time in 24 hours! Lance whipping up chicken pot pie that was fit for a king. He stayed with my brother for a time while he set up Professional Chef in Florida and I worked for he and Tizzie for a few days during my mid life crisis. Typical Lance he said get a grip and pull yourself together. Best advice. I regret not seeing him this past summer in Sarasota. I will miss my dear friend. There will truly be a void in all of our lives, but I think out of this sadness we all learn something from it. My best to the Burke family and his wonderful friends.

My dear Uncle Lance,

It feels like it was just yesterday when we were together in new hampshire. Just you, mom and I enjoying the sun on the lake while eating a delicious lunch (made by you of course!) I can't even describe how much I miss you. Even the way you said my name "Hello, Miss Kyleigh Jean" still rings in my ears. No one but you called me that! I'm going to truly miss it! Although I can't quite remember the days when I was a baby, I have the pictures to remind me of all the things you did not only for but also mom. Walking next door to feed me every night so mom could have a break was such a loving thing for you to do. You were the most sincere unlce in the world. No one has ever been as interested in my life as you. I thank you so much for caring, and you'll always be in my heart. I aspire to have all of your qualities, for you were a man everyone loved.

It's assuring to know that you and Mimi are in heaven together. Miss and love you both!

Tizzy, this is for you. What a surprise when I looked at the photo album and saw the picture I took of Lance on a jaunt to York Beach, out by Nubble Light, in 1976 when I was at Colby Sawyer College and he was at CIA, I believe. What a handsome Dude!!! I will miss him every day of my life! Sue

To the Burke Family and to my great friend Lance in Heaven. I am so glad that you finally found me! I feel guilty that I didn't know for the first month. My life will never be the same without my special, honest, loving friend! He was truly like no one else. Always good for a kick in the butt when I most needed it but didn't know it!! I know all of you know exactly what I mean. I loved him for so many years, my best friend. My first date - Bob you drove us to the movies! My unofficial Maid of Honor in 1980!!! So many memories . . . I am so grateful that we were reunited in New Hampshire-by sheer coincidence-God brought us back together and I'm so glad we had those times. My heart is broken and my thoughts and prayers are with you all. What a terrible shock! God Bless and let's all celebrate Lance and his fascinating life!

Dear Burke Family,
The shock of this news continues to sting me. I will miss Lance terribly as will all of us. He was a devoted friend, always quick with a complement, and his no nonsense approach to life was most inspiring. I pray that God will ease the burden of your grief with each passing day. With love.

Dear Uncle and Cousins,
I am saddened and shocked by the news of Lance's premature death. Though distance and directions of our lives have lead all of us in different directions, we still remain family. Along with Steve's untimely death. 2 very special individuals who left us way to early. Many memories of years long past of Lance and family fun. Trips to Crane's beach, Buttricks for ice cream, visiting Granma Burke's house, riding in Georgia's convertible, all childhood memories of good times with Lance, Richie, Jannie and Tiz. Sincere heartfelt sympathy to Bob, Richie, Jannie Tiz. You are in my prayers

One of my earliest memories of my cousin Lance was on one of our trips to Lexington as a little girl... all they had was coffee ice cream - and I didn't like it - so Lance took me up to the store and bought me a popsicle!! I will never forget that!
In more recent years ~ we were in town for a business trip and he insisted we stay with him. He made sure we had everything we needed and more! Such a generous, giving person. My heart goes out to the family ~ hang on to the memories. Our thoughts are with you at this time and always.

Lance was my cousin. Looking back, some of our fondest memories are of our trips to Lexington over the years... and to the Lake as well. Even though time passes - families grow and move on to the next stage of life... there will always be the memories ~
Lance always had a smile on his face and that sparkle in his eyes...
I especially loved listening about all of his life adventures. Lance will live on forever in all our hearts...

Lance was the best friend I have ever or will ever have. He was always there with advice, or a joke, or a brutally honest opinion, and for that I am truly grateful. I feel blessed to have known him, and will remember him fondly every day forth.

Like everyone I was shocked and so sad to hear about Lance. I met Lance in 1976 when we were working summers at Edward's on Wentworth, in Wolfeboro. He became part of a crew of people who continued to stay in touch long after our summer jobs had ended. He was great fun with a wicked sense of humor that could bring me to tears, laughing at his observations of life and people. Though we saw each other sporadically over the last few years, he was always enthusiastic about getting together and catching up. I will truly miss him.
My sympathy and prayers to the entire family.

Lance ment so much to so many. Such a great friend. His blunt honesty was so refreshing. everything he did was done right and for that he stood out as someone you could always count on. lance left to soon but he left with no regrets. He loved where he lived and loved the people he called friends. lance would want you to remember the good times and the laughs that brought tears to your eyes. he was not just my brother but my friend. how lucky was i. i will miss him each and everyday, because if i didn't see him he'ld call me each and everyday. he loved my children and was always there if i needed a helping hand.
rest in peace.
i love you.

To the Burke family and especially Tizzy,
The memories I have of Lance and Tizzy at Jet Aviation are seared in my brain forever. He was always so much fun to talk to, always made me laugh and always took good care of me. He was a passionate man about his catering and taking care of people and he will be sorely missed.
My deepest sympathies go out to you all at this time.
