Not sure what to say?

My favorite picture of Lance in my brother Richs kitchen. Typical Lance fixing breakfast for everyone.

I don't know where to start. I'm still in disbelief. I met Lance over 25 years ago and we've kept in touch over the years. I loved hearing his stories about his travels, his fun times with his family and friends. After all these years I finally got to meet the mysterious Monja. I had wonderful talks with Pat, Tizzie, Janice and Richie. I mentioned to a friend at the Saturday ceremony, why did it have to be the passing of our best friend to bring all these wonderful people together. I...

My dear Uncle Lance,

It feels like it was just yesterday when we were together in new hampshire. Just you, mom and I enjoying the sun on the lake while eating a delicious lunch (made by you of course!) I can't even describe how much I miss you. Even the way you said my name "Hello, Miss Kyleigh Jean" still rings in my ears. No one but you called me that! I'm going to truly miss it! Although I can't quite remember the days when I was a baby, I have the pictures to remind me of all...

Tizzy, this is for you. What a surprise when I looked at the photo album and saw the picture I took of Lance on a jaunt to York Beach, out by Nubble Light, in 1976 when I was at Colby Sawyer College and he was at CIA, I believe. What a handsome Dude!!! I will miss him every day of my life! Sue

To the Burke Family and to my great friend Lance in Heaven. I am so glad that you finally found me! I feel guilty that I didn't know for the first month. My life will never be the same without my special, honest, loving friend! He was truly like no one else. Always good for a kick in the butt when I most needed it but didn't know it!! I know all of you know exactly what I mean. I loved him for so many years, my best friend. My first date - Bob you drove us to the movies! My...

Dear Burke Family,
The shock of this news continues to sting me. I will miss Lance terribly as will all of us. He was a devoted friend, always quick with a complement, and his no nonsense approach to life was most inspiring. I pray that God will ease the burden of your grief with each passing day. With love.

Dear Uncle and Cousins,
I am saddened and shocked by the news of Lance's premature death. Though distance and directions of our lives have lead all of us in different directions, we still remain family. Along with Steve's untimely death. 2 very special individuals who left us way to early. Many memories of years long past of Lance and family fun. Trips to Crane's beach, Buttricks for ice cream, visiting Granma Burke's house, riding in Georgia's convertible, all childhood memories of good...

One of my earliest memories of my cousin Lance was on one of our trips to Lexington as a little girl... all they had was coffee ice cream - and I didn't like it - so Lance took me up to the store and bought me a popsicle!! I will never forget that!
In more recent years ~ we were in town for a business trip and he insisted we stay with him. He made sure we had everything we needed and more! Such a generous, giving person. My heart goes out to the family ~ hang on to the memories. ...
