Larry Jesse Young was born on March 18, 1956, in Waynesboro, Georgia to late Jessie Mae Kirkland and Sam Young Sr. He entered into eternal rest on September 15, 2025. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 2 p.m. at B. A. Williams Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In 1969, Larry met the love of his life, Janice Curry Young. Through their union, they were blessed with one son, Torando Vertron Young, who sadly preceded him in death. Larry and Janice opened their hearts and home to also raise Anne Lewis, Cynthia Dority, and many others who were fortunate to experience their love and guidance.
For more than 30 years, Larry worked faithfully at Graniteville Textile Mill earning admiration for his hard work and dedication. Beyond his career, he enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—fishing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his laughter, wisdom, and the warmth he brought to every gathering.
In addition to his beloved son Torando, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Roosevelt Palmer and Beatha Palmer. His life was marked by love, devotion, and generosity, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his cherished wife Janice, his son Anthony Gilbert, his grandkids; Torando “Noot” Young, Jr, Toriana Young, Tyren Young, the children he helped raise, his family, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
Larry is survived by In-laws that he called friends: Mack (Lavonna) Curry, Elester (Leon) Lockhart, and Donnie (Yvette) Ferrell; his faithful nieces and nephews, Consuela (Clarence) Brown, Nicchoe Smith, Marcie Curry, Jumaane (Shontavia) Middleton, Larrissa (Darren) Mitchell, Roddrick Flounory; and his loving siblings: Willie Palmer, Mary Flounory, Lonzy Palmer, Cisro Young, Minnie Pryor, Nelson (Sabrina) Kirkland, Rochelle Kirkland, and Kenneth Kirkland; as well as, many cousins, nieces, and nephews that will miss him deeply.
Larry was a loving husband, devoted father, and a cherished friend to many. He may be viewed on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
