LESLIE BLOOMENTHAL Obituary

BLOOMENTHAL, Leslie "Les" Of Brookline, formerly of Sudbury, died peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the age of 75, surrounded by loved ones. Husband of 49 years to his best friend Sharon Bloomenthal (Friezner). Loving father to daughter Marcy and son Andrew, father-in-law to Wendy Bloomenthal, grandfather to Clara, and big brother to Nowell, Robert and the late Bernard. A graduate of the Boston University Law School, Les was a passionate and dedicated Boston trial lawyer for more than 40 years. He had a rare gift for playing the piano by ear, often resulting in many joyous song sessions with friends. He loved traveling the world, both on and off the beaten path, and his enthusiasm for collecting giraffes earned him the nickname "Giraffe Man." A running, skiing, boating and fishing enthusiast, Les spent countless summers in Hull, where he delighted in cruising on his boat, the "Anne Evelyn," almost as much as he enjoyed cleaning it afterwards. His wry sense of humor, whimsical personality and zest for living attracted people of all kinds into his world. Funeral services will be held at Levine Chapel, 470 Harvard St., BROOKLINE, Tuesday, September 8 at 10am. Following the burial, memorial observance will be held at the Bloomenthal family home in Brookline from 1-4pm and 6-8pm, and on Wednesday from 1-4pm and 6-8pm. Donations in Les's memory may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.

I grew up in Hull as a year round kid, I knew all the Blumenthal‘d. Dr. Blumenthal was a kind hearted man. His lovely wife always had a pack of Oreo cookies for the Oreo Kid.
Les was a fun person, respected and a family man. I use to ride a bike for two, sailing on the kayak and catamaran.
I would keep an eye the beach house during the winter,
Noel was my brother was my best friend and we would laugh and tease Robert.
My life went to a Coast Guard and i left Hull forever. Les last seen me In 1975 and we sat down and just talked. He told me to always treat people with kindness.
My entire life I used his advice and I wish I could sit down and he would be proud.
After a 44 year career in law enforcement, am a father to 4 sons and one daughter. We ae grand parents to 6 boys and one girl. My beautiful wife is a retired Trauma RN and at 58 year’s old is a Red belt in martial arts and graduated top of her class.i am sad but I have been blessed to know the entire family.
Sharon, I wish you keep the happy memories and I’ll get to Massachusetts to get a loving hug and a few Oreo‘s!
Much love

Les and I were contemporaries in the practice of law. While the law is by nature a very competitive environment, I have nothing but the fondest memories of Les, who did the best for his clients and the profession without displaying any unkindness or hostility. We don't have enough like him. My sympathies to the family.
