LINDA BAGNELL BESSE

1941 - 2023

BESSE, Linda Bagnell Passed away peacefully at her home after a long illness on March 28, 2023. While she was born in Malden, MA, on January 1, 1941, her heart was always held in her spiritual home of Gabarus, Nova Scotia. Linda was a proud alumna of Boston College School of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she initially worked in Obstetrics. She later gained two master's degrees and transitioned to supporting the community by helping with mental health programs in Lawrence, MA. At the end of her career, she was coordinating the HIV/AIDs programs for the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center. After retiring, she was able to spend more time in Gabarus. She would be seen throughout the village on her morning and afternoon walks with her dog, visiting with people along the way. She would always stop at her father's grave to say hello and share the news of the day. She spearheaded, along with a number of members of the community, the establishment of the Gull Cove Trail Society, which is dedicated to building and maintaining a public trail to the historic fishing village of Gull Cove. Linda leaves her wife, Dale Nicholson of Amesbury, MA; her sons, Matt Besse of Vallejo, CA, and Dan Besse (Erin Lloyd) of Colleyville, TX; and daughter, Andrea Trudeau of Newton, NH. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth (Kevin) Cochrane; grandson, Thomas Trudeau and granddaughters, Libby, Jillian, and Rebecca Trudeau. As well as her nieces, Jennifer, Amy, and Megan Cochrane. Visiting Hours: Family and friends are invited to a Wake for her on Friday, March 31, from 4-7 pm and a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 1, at 11 am. Both will be held at King of Grace Church, 28 Chadwick St., Bradford MA.
