LINDA SHEEHAN Obituary

SHEEHAN, Linda Rose (Kornhoff) Age 80, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully, at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, with family by her side. She was the wife of Richard Sheehan with whom she enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Born in Passaic, New Jersey on November 1, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Oswald and Rose (Boyer) Kornhoff. Linda grew up in Lake George, New York, with her sister, Nancy, their parents and uncle at Briar Dell Motel and Cabins which they owned. She attended Lake George High School, where she was an excellent student and Tri-sport athlete. She then went on to attend SUNY Oswego, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education. After meeting Dick in Lake George in the summer of 1967 and marrying in 1968, they moved to Massachusetts, where Linda taught 6th grade, first in Lexington, then in Westford. It is then that she met her best friend, Carolyn Shannon, her lifelong confidant. Linda then took some time off to raise her two daughters, Lori and Jennifer, before heading back to the paid workforce in 1984. She worked for the Northern Essex Community College Library for over 30 years, developing many lifelong friendships. Lyn took great interest and pride in her children's and grandchildren's academic and sporting endeavors. She attended many graduations, swim meets, softball, baseball and soccer games. She was always their biggest cheerleader! In her downtime, Lyn was also an avid pro-sports fan. She loved watching the Red Sox, Patriots and Olympic Games with Dick. They always looked forward to spending this time together. She also loved playing Bridge with her friends Jane, Sharon and Priscilla, which she enjoyed for many years. Another of Lyn's passions was playing Pac-Man on the family's original 1979 Atari 400 computer, where she was hard to beat. However, what Lyn and Dick most cherished was their annual summer vacation at Lake Winnipesaukee with their daughter and then also with their grandkids, a tradition that spanned almost 50 years. In addition to her husband Dick, Linda is survived by her children, Dr. Lori Sheehan and her husband, Chris Barrett of Westford and Jennifer Murray and her husband, Rob Murray of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and her sister, Nancy (Kornhoff) Stannard-Linehan of Lake George, New York. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rhianna Barrett, Jacob Barrett, Ethan Barrett of Westford and Nathan Murray, Aiden Murray and Keira Murray of Maple Grove, Minnesota. She was predeceased by her mother, Rose (Boyer) Kornhoff; her father, Oswald Kornhoff; and beloved uncle, Elmer Daniel Kornhoff all of Lake George, New York. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Heart Pond Cemetery, Garrison Road/Parkerville Road, Chelmsford. Kindly gather at the cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. Funeral Directors Paul A. Hardy, Jr. and Jennifer Lebaropoulos Hardy.
