LOIS SMILEY Obituary

SMILEY, Lois A. (Nichols) Age 95, died peacefully on May 12, 2022 with her family around her, following a period of declining health. She was born on November 17, 1926, in Rockland, Maine, to Benjamin H. Nichols and Avis (Partridge) Nichols. Lois is survived by her children, Lucy Giger and her husband Michael of Maynard, Dan Smiley and his wife Candice of Hope, Maine, and Beth Smiley of Wayland; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, three nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert F. Smiley, who died on February 3, 1995; her daughter Linda Smiley; and her sister Constance Durkee. Lois grew up on a dairy farm in Hope, Maine. She attended Rockland High School and was active in 4-H. She received her BS in Nursing from Simmons College and worked as an RN at Children's Hospital. She lived in Wayland for over 60 years, where she and her husband raised their family. Lois was an active member of Trinitarian Congregational Church for many years. A Memorial Service celebrating her life is planned on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Carlisle Congregational Church, 147 School Street, Carlisle. A private family Burial will be held in Union, Maine. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may remember Lois with a gift to Thru the Bible, P.O.
