LOUISE THORNTON BARNES

1924 - 2017

BARNES, Louise Thornton Of Boston and Brookline, died peacefully on May 7, 2017 of natural causes at Hebrew Senior Life. She is predeceased by her brother, Raymond Whitney Barnes, and her sister, Jeanne Barnes Smith. Ms. Barnes was born December 2, 1924 in Syracuse, New York. Louise studied nursing at the Syracuse University School of Nursing, As an RN, she served at Cornell University Hospital in New York, Mass General Hospital, Boston, and Mt. Auburn Hospital, Cambridge where she specialized in Pediatrics. She loved art and attained her BA degree from Boston University in her 60's. Music and her church were an important part of her life. She sang in the choir at Church of the Advent in Boston where she was a lifelong member. She also loved the outdoors, was an avid camper and sailed with Community Boating on the Charles River. Weza will always be remembered for her loyalty to family and friends, her wry humor and inquisitiveness and as a special aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. They will gather at Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse for a family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of the Advent, 30 Brimmer Street, Boston, MA 02108.
