Lucille Karpel
Lucille S. Karpel, 76, of Mascoutah, Ill., born Oct. 26, 1931, in Damiansville, Ill., died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Lucille was a homemaker and a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Karpel, whom she married Oct. 12, 1954, in Damiansville, Ill., and who died Oct. 24, 1989; her parents, Henry and Ida, nee Singler, Billhartz; and three brothers, Norbert, Ralph and Bernard Billhartz in infancy.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Ann Karpel of Mascoutah, Ill., Jane Ellen (Larry) Litteken of Trenton, Ill., Jean Marie (Jim) Endres of Germantown, Ill.; one son, Jim Karpel of Mascoutah, Ill.; five grandchildren, Justin, Alicia, and Kirk Litteken and Lauren and Lance Endres; three sisters, Ella Mae Voss of New Baden, Ill., Arlene (Hugo) Schulte of Belleville, Ill., and Carol Ann Billhartz of New Baden, Ill.; and one brother, Vernon (Pauline) Billhartz of New Baden, Ill.; also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund, in the form of Masses, or to American Diabetes Association. Condolences can be expressed to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, Ill. A prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral: A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, Ill., with Monsignor Jerome Hartlein officiating. Interment will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery.
