LUCY KINAN Obituary

KINAN, Lucy Age 87, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham. She was the devoted wife of 67 years to Edmund G. Kinan, loving mother of Edmund G. Kinan, Jr. and his wife, Norma of Pembroke, Robert Kinan and his wife, Carol of Pembroke, Donna Theodore and the late Carl E. Theodore of Westford, MA. She was the grandmother to Laurie Tuholski, Daniel Kinan, Heather Rymasz, Carl B. Theodore, Jr., Gina M. Theodore, and Emily Kinan. She was the great-grandmother to Lindsey Tuholski, Steven Tuholski, and newborn, Lincoln Rymasz. Lucy was the cherished sister of Christine Ruhr of Plymouth and the late Michael Tenore of Dunstable. She was the sister-in-law to Jon Ruhr and Florence Tenore; and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Lucy was born in Somerville on May 22, 1935, daughter of the late Donato and Leonarda (Rubino) Tenore. Lucy grew up in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School class of 1953. She started working at Neisner's Department Store where she met the love of her life, Edmund. Her husband always said "he met a million-dollar baby at a five and dime store." Edmund and Lucy were married on November 14, 1954, and a short time later, bought their first house in Randolph, MA. Years later, they moved to Quincy where they raised their family. They eventually moved to Pembroke, whereby Lucy worked for Scudder Investments for many years. After Lucy's retirement in 2004, they made their final move to The Pinehills in Plymouth where they resided together to date. Lucy was an extremely intelligent individual with an incredible sense of humor and wit. She was a veracious reader. Her and her sister regularly attended book club meetings with the ladies in the Pinehills. Lucy and Edmund were also accomplished ballroom dancers, dancing together, competing over the years at both amateur and semi-professional levels. Lucy was an excellent cook and loved to play Scrabble. She was a magnificent artist and painter, sharing her works with everyone around her, including her famous "one of a kind" greeting cards which quickly became treasured art. But above all, Lucy was extremely devoted to her family and was the go-to person for expert counsel or advice, everyone knew to listen well, because Lucy was "always right." A Celebration of Lucy's Life will be held at the North River Community Church, 334 Old Oak St., Pembroke, MA 02359, on Wednesday, September 28, at 1:00 pm. Donations in her name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
