MARC TEMIN

1945 - 2025

TEMIN, Marc Of Newton, MA, passed away on February 13, 2025. He was born in Louisville, KY in 1945 and grew up in Cincinnati, OH, attending Walnut Hills High School. Marc went on to study as an undergraduate at Harvard University before receiving a PhD in Philosophy from Princeton University. He then took a teaching position at Middlebury College in Vermont, where he met his future wife, Christine Woll. They were married in an outdoor ceremony in Vermont in 1975. The couple returned to the Boston area and Marc attended Harvard Law School, also serving as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. After graduating, he joined the law firm Foley Hoag, where he practiced civil litigation for the remainder of his career. Marc and Christine raised two sons, Jonathan and Nathaniel. Tennis was a lifelong passion for Marc and he taught both sons to play, while also coaching youth soccer. The family traveled extensively, including trips throughout Europe and to the Middle East and Africa. Marc was a lifelong intellectual and learner, returning to his passion for philosophy later in his life. In addition to his two sons, he is survived by his brothers, Larry and Andrew; and by three grandchildren, Owen, Cameron and Claire. He was a devoted grandfather, relishing his grandsons' trips to Newton and to the house that he and Christine lived in for 40 years, during the summer and holidays. A private Ceremony for Marc and Christine, who passed away in 2024, will be held in the spring.
