I'm so sorry to hear of this. I was one of her students years ago and she inspired me so much, and I've saved all her emails. I will never forget her class and convey the materials she learned to my own students, and will never stop championing the cause of women in STEM and recommending her books. She certainty did not receive the recognitions she deserved during her lifetime and had to fight so hard to continue her feminist science scholarship.

She possessed the genius she saw in the remarkable women she wrote about and was a wonderful mentor to younger scholars, including me, working in adjacent fields. Her superb sense of humor, utter brilliance and warm interest in others were in evidence in every encounter I ever had with Margaret. It was a great privilege to have known her.

Dear Margaret, we served together at the DHST Commission from the beginning in Bucharest. You have been a great friend, inspiration and support for me, thanks for that. I am really sad that you are no more with us.

Margaret and I walked to school together for many many years. She often spoke Latin to me as we debated world issues. Margaret was a truly amazing woman who was before her time. Rest in Peace

I worked under Margaret from 1994 to 1999 as managing editor of Isis. When I took the job, I knew Margaret was a brilliant historian. But I came to know her as a deeply caring person with a well-honed sense of humor. Those years in Ithaca were among the most professionally rewarding and personally rich that I have experienced-and I have Margaret to thank for that. I am planning a work trip to Cornell in early September, and I had gone online this morning to find her current contact info to reach out about meeting for a chat while I was in town. Instead, I´m sad to learn of her passing. But I´m glad that I have this chance to share some reflections on this wonderful and important person in my life. Rest in peace, Margaret.
