Of Carver formerly of Dorchester, August 7. Wife of the late Francis X. Mills Sr. Loving mother of Frances X. Mills-Noble of Braintree, Anna Devlin Mills-Norrie and her husband David of Carver and Elizabeth Evans of Carver. Sister of William Ketchen of Whitman and Miriam Zoccolante of Plymouth, and the late Helen Jones, Roberta Fountain and John C. Ketchen. Sister-in-law of Elizabeth Kennerley of Carver. Aunt of Terrance Harte and his partner Eugene Riley of Plymouth. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and many neices and nephews. Born in Plymouth January 26, 1917 she was the daughter of the late J. William and Emma M. (White) Ketchen. During her fifty plus years as a reporter for the Old Colony Memorial, Maggie reported on the events and happenings that transpired in her beloved Plymouth. She loved nothing more than strolling down Main Street on a daily basis to hear about the latest news within her home town. She shared her love of Plymouth and her family with devoted readers through her celebrated "Timelines" series which provided a glimpse into her past as it correlated to Plymouth's past. In 1997, Maggie was honored to receive the "Horace Greeley Award" from the New England Press Association for her work at the OCM. Maggie was an active member of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society and the Mayflower Society. In her adopted hometown of Carver she served on both the Historical Committee and the Pond Committee. Maggie was also a volunteer for many organizations including the St. Vincent De Paul Society and the Salvation Army. Memorial Service on Sat., August 23rd at 11:00 am in the First Parish Unitarian Universialist Church, Town Sq., Plymouth the Rev. Peter Gomes officiating. Cremation in Duxbury Crematory.
