I remember Marie for having a genuine interest in dialog and all things past and current. From personal/family news to world politics, she was always up for trading stories and opinions of such matters.
I remember a couple years back she asked me about MP3s and MP3 players.. Her curiosity on this topic (in her early 90s) floored me and I was delighted to explain. Then she demonstrated how to tie a more efficient shoelace knot.

Col. Butler,
Maam, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army and USAR. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
