TICHNOR, Marjorie (Krensky) Peacefully died on June 29, at Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham, at 95 years of age. Formerly of Newton and Sanibel, Florida, Marjorie was born in Boston, and was the loving daughter of Pauline (Shapiro) and Samuel Krensky; and sister of the late Edward Krensky. Marjorie was the devoted wife of 53 years to the late Alan J.Tichnor. Marjorie enjoyed a happy childhood growing up in Brookline, surrounded by many friends and family. Marjorie was a stellar student and athlete at Brookline High School and she was a graduate of Radcliffe College. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Alan. Marjorie was the matriarch of a large and loving family in every sense of the word. With four children, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, twelve grandchildren and their spouses, and twenty-four great-grandchildren - her cup truly runneth over. There was no doubt her family - all three generations - were her enduring legacy. Marjorie and Alan were well-known in the Boston Jewish Community and generous philanthropists throughout their lives. The many organizations Marjorie was involved with included: CJP, Hebrew College, Brandeis University, Synagogue Council, and United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Marjorie was a life-long member of Congregation Mishkan Tefila where she actively served on its board. She cherished her synagogue, her lifelong friends, traveling throughout the world, and her many winters and relationships she and Alan enjoyed in Sanibel. A proud alumna of Radcliffe College, she served as a volunteer for its admissions department, interviewing countless prospective students. She also was a volunteer for the Newton South High School guidance department, where she worked with students and faculty. Marjorie regularly attended symphony, played bridge and most of all found her greatest joy in entertaining her large family and friends at her homes in Newton and Sanibel. Marjorie will be greatly missed by her family. She was the proud mother of Susan and Howard Alfred of Worcester, Michael and Karen Tichnor of Wayland, and Nancy and Sidney Lejfer of Newton. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Amy Tichnor. She leaves behind her dearly loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tammy and Justin Steinman (Leah, Alan, Ryan and Matthew), Rachel and Brian Greenberg (Alia, Jonah and Drew), Pauline and Jordan Hirsch (Heloise, Aline, Annette and Freddy), Sandra and Aaron Greenblatt (Emma, Robby and Jenna), Elana Alfred and Eammon Kelly (Milo and Kaye), Abigail Alfred and Ethan Schecter (Robert and Howie), Ariel Tichnor-Wagner and Nicholas Wagner (Adina, Eliana, Reuben, and Maddox), Hannah and Adam Armstrong (Maxine and Hazel), Samuel and Brooke Tichnor, Benjamin and Sarah Lejfer, Samuel Lejfer and Pauline Lejfer.
