I am so sorry for Mark's family and friends that you have lost him. Maybe this little story will give you if not comfort, then a laugh. As a sophomore in high school, he was THE smartest student in my science class. As a very green and somewhat unprepared teacher, I did not understand what a learning disability was, much less that kids all learn differently. Mark eloquently explained this to me using a personal example, and for all these years I have thought of him often, with great gratitude that he took the time to educate me. He further amazed me last year, when he showed up at my business door with a dozen red roses, thanking me for being one of his two best teachers! He had remembered that conversation differently, and he had no idea of the profound impact he had had on my understanding of human communication. This world should have more families like you to raise more men like Mark. My heart and prayers are with you all.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to the family at this time. Although the words, "I'm sorry" seem so inadequate, there really is nothing else that I can say to ease your pain.

Lord, we ask that you receive him gently.
May the sun warm him,
The stars blanket him,
The mountains watch over him.
May his spirit be free like the wind and the gentle breezes.
May the rain that sweeps across the valleys and over the lands
Fall on him like an abundant blessing.
Amen
