MARK FALLON Obituary

Fallon, Mark X. 56, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, died peacefully at home on August 25th after a long battle with colon cancer. Mark was the son of Joanne (Concannon) Fallon and the late Francis Xavier Fallon. Beloved husband of Michelle (Battles) Fallon and devoted father to son Patrick Francis and daughter Madeline Claire. He is also survived by sister, Maureen (Fallon) Bolger and husband Richard of Cohasset and three brothers: William Fallon and wife Carol of Bridgewater, Greg Fallon and Carolina Contreras of Hull, and Douglas Fallon and wife Anne Marie of Deerfield, New Hampshire. He leaves behind many well-loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in Quincy, Massachusetts and raised in Hull, Mark graduated from Hull High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Merrimack College. In 1981, Mark began his career in banking. He retired as the regional director of credit operations for the Bank of America. Mark enjoyed reading, traveling and sports of all kind. He was an enthusiastic golfer and avid Boston sports fan. Playing a round or watching the Patriots were great excuses to relax with family and friends. Even on the bad days, when putts didn't fall and the Colts beat the Pats, Mark made it fun with his quick-witted sense of humor and easy-going charm. Mark was a man's man; tall, athletic and strong but it was his generous heart and gentle kindness that drew people to him and what will surely be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mark's name to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Benefitting Dr. James M. Cleary's Phase I Trial Research in Colon Cancer, Attn: Hillary D. Repucci, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, August 28 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 29 prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 11:30 AM. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. See www.Keohane.com for directions and online condolences or call 781-335-0045.

"Man's man", what a great way to describe Mark. Growing up in Hull, watching Mark battle some talented hoop players in eastern MA- it was like watching the gladiators do battle, and he was one of the best of them! A great guy, a real gentleman. My prayers and thoughts go out to the Fallon family.

My sincerest sympathy to Mark's loved ones. I will miss my old friend. I have respected Mark since we were kids together. To earn a spot on his basketball team was an honor. Mark had a style and grace on the court that was something to see. He demonstrated what real dedication and sportsmanship looks like. In a time when kids were often critical of differences Mark said, "Different strokes for different folks." I wonder if anyone reading this remembers Mark's singing impersonation of the great Louis Armstrong? Lots of hysterical stuff came out of Mark . . . and all of us when we were shooting hoops together at "L" Street. Thank you, old friend.

Mark with his brothers and sister were a major part of my introduction to the Concannon clan. I actually remember him best as a boy and young man - always just in from or about to go out to whatever sport was in season then. Mark, we all will miss you dearly. Uncle Jerry

Very sad to hear of Mark's passing. He was my manager at Fleet/Bank of America for many years. He was a great employer, he always had a fair but all business approach to management, so it was nice on the rare occasion that he'd show a more casual side, more often on the days where the work would continue into the next day. My heart goes out to his family and all of my former coworkers who had the pleasure of knowing him.
