Dear Russ, Jeff and Jamie -- I was so sorry to hear from Elaine about Marlene's unexpected death. I know this must be a terribly difficult time for all of you and my heart breaks to think of the sadness that all of you are now enduring. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Marlene, I had heard so much about her from Elaine and Artie that I feel as though she was a friend and my heart is broken over this loss. I know you will find a lot of solace in your family and friends and I hope that the wonderful memories that Marlene has left you with will help to heal your sorrow in time. Please accept the love of a stranger who feels like a friend.

Dear Jeff, Russ and Jamie,
I was deeply saddened to hear about the death of Marlene. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for all of you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Marlene was such a kind, gentle soul. She would do anything to help someone in need. I know how much you will miss her. I encourage you to draw on your strength and the strength of your family. You could use your special talent of scrapbooking to make a lasting memory book of her. The pictures on the wall at home were amazing. They illustrated how happy she was. I can come over anytime to help you make the scrapbook.
May God bless you and your family during this time and always,
Alex Gottfried

Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer. May your memories give you strength. You all know how much we adore your mother, that adoration will continue on. We love you all.

To Jamie, Jeff, Russ, and Joyce: You are very lucky to have had such an amazing mom, wife, and sister. I'm very lucky to have had the chance to know her. She's someone I'll always look up to for inspiration. She'll always be remembered for her loving nature and selflessness. This world needs more people like Marlene.
