MARTIN COYNE Obituary

COYNE, Martin J. Of Plymouth, MA, originally from Savin Hill, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at his home by the sea with his wife by his side. Martin, who was preceded in death by his sister Barbara; and brother Thomas; is survived by his wife Sylvana Myr; his brother Kevin Coyne and his wife Martha; his sisters-in-law, Diane Coyne and Jacqueline Miller; and many nieces and nephews. Martin was born in Boston, the son of Martin and Catherine (MacDonald) Coyne. He was known for his storytelling and his skills at showing everyone how to ski. He was known as "The Fun Uncle." In his lifetime, he had completed marathons and triathlons and encouraged family members, as well as friends to join him in these pursuits. He was also an avid alpine skier, runner, and a dedicated swimmer. Martin attended Northeastern University specializing in technical writing in the engineering program. Martin was one of the founding fathers of UMASS Boston. He ended his career administering the UMASS physical plant, by leading many departments with his guidance. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at noon at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, PLYMOUTH. A period of Visitation will follow the Service from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Martin's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, https://donate.cancer.org/

So sorry to hear about the loss of Marty. It was a pleasure working with him for so many years and I enjoyed his company and friendship over the years and his wisdom and everything he taught me. My thoughts and prayers are with Cici and the family. Memories Eternal!
