Keep thinking. Keep living.
Keep remembering.

Thinking of Aunty today as tomorrow is her birthday. The lilacs are blooming in the arboretum in celebration of a life well lived. I wish we could get sundaes at Brigham's together, Jimmy, and enjoy the way your mother made the simplest of moments magnificent. I am here, sending love and remembering Aunty always. Elaine.

Auntie Mary was smart, funny, and knew everything'. She had fabulous penmanship - I loved getting cards or letters from her, not only because of what she wrote but because they were written with that beautiful hand. She loved trivia & we reveled in learning obscure facts about a wide variety of topics. She encouraged me to learn, to research, to write, and most importantly to speak up. She stressed the importance of not measuring your success with someone else's ruler and that doing the right thing was about your character not someone else's perceptions. Auntie was a bright light in my childhood and it wasn't because she treated me as an adult, but because she saw me as a whole person and helped me to see myself. She always had a shoulder or a smile when I needed it, and she always had a big dose of reality when I needed that, too. I cherish my memories of early morning walks on the beach in Marshfield, shopping in the china/crystal department in Bloomingdale's, and Friday evening take out from China Gold. Auntie, you are missed terribly ... but you live on in my heart.

There are no words to describe what it feels like to be loved by Aunty Mary. You have to live it. I was blessed to live it everyday of my life. Unconditional ever present love and laughter. I learned intelligence in the truest sense of the word. Thank you Jimmy, for sharing your Mother with me. We will hear her in the waves at Marshfield and every time we make the pie I love you. Yes, its Elaine AGAIN!
