MARY HOGAN Obituary

HOGAN, Mary L. Of Boston, formerly of Dorchester, "Savin' Hill" and Winthrop, died July 17, 2023, at the age of 89 years. Beloved daughter of the late John W. and Anne M. (McCarthy) Hogan. Longtime companion of the late Kathryn K. "Kit" Maillett and longtime friend of Margaret Donahue of Westford. Mary is also survived by many dear cousins. Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for a Visiting Hour in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Road, Dorchester, on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 9:00 A.M. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. Mary's cremains will be interred with her late parents in St. John Cemetery in Winthrop at a later date. Mary was the Registrar at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work from 1956 until 1998. Mary graduated from Emmanuel College in 1956, where she was inspired by Sister Marie Augusta Neal to become an advocate for social justice issues, including elder affairs and racism.
