Dear Gannon Family,
How many wonderful memories I have of Matty Gannon during his days at Gillespie Ford. He would always have a laugh or a story for us as we counted those nuts and bolts in the parts department for the business. I would have recognized his picture anywhere, and reading about his wonderful life with such a devoted family brought tears to my eyes. I thank God and you for sharing him and allowing him to be a part of our lives.

Mrs. Gannon & Family,
I just learned tonight and I'm so sorry for missing this. I could write a book here. I am so thankful for all of the memories that I have being your neighbor and a friend to your family. Your husband spent a lot of time with us and he meant the world to us. He taught and introduced us to so many different things. I still find myself reflecting back on and telling stories about those memories. I wish you all the best in your time of sorrow. I know you will miss him. God Bless.

It's hard to believe that all of my visits to Mass., from now on, will be lacking the scent of old spice and the cheek to stubbly cheek kisses that I'm so used to....the whole time I was here I was waiting to hear his familiar voice shouting to me/at me "Hey! Watch those babies near the pool, this house isn't safe, they'll pinch a god damn finger on that door"
He was always calling it like he saw it, but it ALWAYS came from a place of caring and love.
The family was sharing memories throughout the day, and my fondest memory of my Grandfather was when I was young and he was always running errands, he would let me come along. One day I accompanied him to the grocery store; we just went to get two or three things. We walked past the grocery florist counter and display case and he stopped to look around. For a second I thought Grandpa was about to buy me flowers (i was spoiled with affection) He picked a bouquet and nodded approvingly at it, he said "I'll get these for Miriam" The ride back to his house, I got to hold the flowers, I starred at them and thought...today isn't a birthday, a holiday or any type of anniversary (I surely would have know if it was, because on those days the walls of the Gannon home would swell with visitors and cards)I decided my Grandfather was the sweetest man in the world and right then, for a little girl with her whole life ahead of her, the bar was set....REALLY high, for the type of man I would want to fall in love with and have love me.
I loved my Grandfather and I always will, I am so proud to be a part of his family, his legacy and so blessed to have received every stubbly cheeked kiss I have received.

Dear Miriam, Maryann,Tricia and family
Matthew was a Great man that walked this earth to bring peace to many people in need. As in the St. Francis of Assisi pray, where there
was despair Matt gave Hope; where there was darkness, He was a Great Light; and where there was sadness, Matt gave Joy to so many
children! " For it is in giving that we receive; and (Matt) it is in dying that we are born to eternal life". Fred Aloisi (Halifax) 617-347-5152.

Matt, "Dad Gannon", a humble hero, an angel who walked amoung us has now sailed on the wings of his heavenly angels to a place of peace and reward.
His service to others and his complete understanding of the human condition was a gift this world has lost and will forever miss. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and humility. His presence on this planet will echo for eternity, as it should, through the hearts and souls of not only the many he helped along the way but also of the many more who can learn to live by the example he has set just by doing what came naturally to him. Our little family feels blessed, fortunate, and humbled to have have Matt and the entire Gannon family in our lives for so many wonderful years. We will miss Matt's physical presence but we will never forget his lessons, and will always remain open to and aware of his spirit being around us. Love & Light

When I sat down to sign Uncle Matt’s guest book, I never thought about, or realized how much Uncle Matt did for me. From Day one, Uncle Matt treated me like I was one of his own kids, but with pretty awesome advantages. He never complained when I was there for days on end.
I have hundreds of memories, but these three memories came to me first;
• I was such a brat, and I was one of those kids that woke up before the sun. I would get out of bed, probably around 4:00-5:00am, maybe even earlier, thinking I was going to start playing. I can’t remember how many voices I would hear say, Tina it’s too early to get up. I would continue trying to wake everyone about every 5-10 minutes, but I do remember hearing Uncle Matt’s. My Aunt and Uncle never got any sleep when I slept there, but even with not getting any sleep with me there, and all the kids they had to take care of (some really tough ones too), they never said no to me, I always felt like I was one of their kids too. I was also adopted, and I can’t remember one time my parents or my aunt and uncle made me feel like I wasn’t born there.
• I was always treated special at 44 Bradley Road. I can remember Uncle Matt letting me swim with the “Older” kids for midnight swims. It doesn’t sound like much, but I had so much fun, and it is a memory I will never forget. Thank you Uncle Matt.
• I will never forget our trip to Disney. We were all jammed in the van, but the spoiled brat I was, Uncle Matt let me lay across all the kids. It was a long ride down because of me. Uncle Matt had to stop frequently for my bloody noses. The best part of Florida was once again I was allowed to go out at night with the older kids. It would have probably been easier for my aunt and uncle to bring 30 more kids in place of me. Thank you for including me in your family trips.

I didn’t make it back to the Braintree area too often in the past 20 years, but I often think about everyone. Looking back, I want you to know how much I appreciate what you did for me. I am going to miss you Uncle Matt.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.
