MATTHEW WILLIAM KEANE

KEANE, Matthew William Of Milton, MA, New Orleans, LA and Richmond, VA. He is survived by his best friend and twin soul, Trang Le; his parents, William and Frances (Egan) Keane; his sister, Elizabeth; loving aunts and uncles, Kathleen Keane, Susan Egan, James and Robin Egan, Marianne and John Penella; and his cousins and family dogs. Matt was born in Indiana and grew up in Milton, MA. His love of books and music was evident from an early age, and hours of his teenage years were spent browsing CDs and guitar magazines at Newbury Comics and Tower Records. He taught himself to play guitar by listening to his favorite songs with his ear pressed up against the stereo speakers. Matt went to BC High and Harvard, where his sense of humor was finely honed. His excellent memorization skills delighted and perhaps unnerved his friends and family, as he demonstrated his ability to recite huge chunks of comedic dialogue from his favorite shows and movies. He moved to New Orleans for medical school at Tulane University, where an even greater level of appreciation for live music was unlocked, as well as his affinity for hats and fine dining. He spent 20 years there, working in pediatrics as a chief resident and later as a pediatric hospitalist. He loved the kids he treated and always took great pleasure in telling friends and family about them. He then moved to Richmond for new adventures and to be with Trang and her son, Ben Williams, who adored his uncle Matt. He held a faculty position as a hospitalist at The Children's Hospital of Richmond. Together, Matt and Trang discovered new favorite restaurants and adopted two very good dogs, Timba and Red Bean.
