MAUREEN SANTORO Obituary

SANTORO, Maureen Ann (Tracy) Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Friday, January 29 at the age of 73, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Francis (Frank) Philip Santoro for 51 years. Born in Boston on April 29, 1947, Maureen was the first child of the late Agnes Patricia (Burns) Tracy and John Joseph Tracy. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Weymouth in 1964, Maureen studied early elementary education at Bridgewater State, where she met Frank, the love of her life and partner in laughter. A year after graduation, Maureen and Frank were married on August 9, 1969. They settled in Raynham, Massachusetts where they raised their two children, Nicole and Mark. A generous and caring mother, Maureen stayed home with her children during their early school years. She returned to teaching in the mid-1980s, and earned her Masters in Reading Education from Bridgewater State. Maureen was a reading specialist at South Elementary School in Stoughton until her retirement in 2007. Her passion for reading and teaching touched the lives of so many young children, students and family alike. A skilled craftsperson, Maureen could sew, quilt, and needlepoint with the best. She particularly loved to knit beautiful baby blankets, hats, and scarves for family and close friends. Over the past thirty years, Maureen and Frank traveled the world together. They spent their winter months at their home in Naples, Florida, and went on adventures every year, including trips to France, Italy, Ireland, England, Greece, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Her detailed journals and photographs will be treasured always. Maureen's greatest joy in life was spending time with her four grandchildren, hosting them for sleepovers, making holiday gingerbread houses, or cheering them on at sporting events, piano recitals and other special activities. She will be in their hearts forever. Maureen is survived by her loving husband Frank; her daughter Nicole Sands and her husband Gregory of Marshfield; her son Mark Santoro and his wife Whitney of Pembroke; four grandchildren: Avery and Maren Sands, and Luke and Gavin Santoro; her siblings: Francis Tracy and his wife Marie of Southborough, John J. Tracy of Norwood, Donna (Tracy) Neil and her husband Richard of Middleboro, Mark Tracy and his wife Anne of Burlington, Julianne (Tracy) Lyons and her husband Jon of Raynham, Michelle (Tracy) Daniels and her husband Mark of Raynham; her brother-in-law Philip Santoro and his wife Nancy of Stoughton. Maureen's dear sister Patricia (Tracy) Mills preceded her in death in 2020. Maureen will also be greatly missed by so many family members, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Due to current health restrictions, Burial Services will be private. A Memorial Celebration of Maureen's Life will be held at a later date. Maureen's obituary and online condolences can be found at Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, www.ccgfuneralhome.com
