I miss you more and more each day. I still remember meeting you in the hospital and you becoming my best friend. I wish you were still here melissa. I love you forever. You took an Uber all the way to see me when I was getting surgery done, you taught me how to take pills, you stayed up playing games with me all night, we would FaceTime every night. I just wish I went with you to the museum of science to see you one last time. Fly high and ready easy <3

My kids were on the YMCA Blue Waves Swim Team with Melissa. My son is the same age as Melissa. They and a few other teammates of the same age used to hang out together during those very long swim meets. They also sometimes went out after a meet or practice (they were all high school students in that social group). Our family is extremely sorry to hear about Melissa. She was a very nice and sweet young lady.
Sincerely, Doreen and family.

Melissa cared for my son this summer at Little Sprouts. Although I didn't know her well, her kindness was immediately obvious. She took the time one afternoon to introduce herself to me and let me know how much my son enjoyed a particular book at daycare. I love that she noticed this about my son and I love that she took the time to share this with me. I am so sad for Melissa's family and friends to have lost someone so special.

I first met Melissa when she was in second grade and befriended my daughter Anna, who was new to the school and Newton. Even as a young child, her quiet intelligence and deep kindness were clear. The challenges she faced the last few years were staggering, and yet her essential qualities remained and always shone through. We will truly miss her graceful presence. My heart aches for the family and loved ones she left behind, but please know that she will live on our fond memories.

Our daughter learned the meaning of being a true friend, thanks to her friendship with Melissa. We loved having Melissa over at or house and lovingly remember the upside down ginger bread house they made and the laughter they shared. Our condolences to the Mark family; may Melissa rest in peace now.

We met Melissa when she reached out to my daughter Bailey after learning about my daughter's fundraising campaign for epilepsy. Melissa and Bailey shared both the challenges of epilepsy, and the determination to live life to the fullest in spite of it, raising money and hope and reaching out to others to bring them out of isolation.
This news is so tragic, and I send my deepest and heartfelt condolences to everyone who knew Melissa, and especially to her family. May you find solace in the 21 beautiful years that you had Melissa with you, and may you ultimately find peace and forgiveness in your hearts.

I am the benefits and payroll administrator at Little Sprouts and I first met Melissa at her working interview as I was in Watertown that day. I was so impressed with her ability to engage with the children and really get to know them. I then met her again at the new hire welcome session...she will be greatly missed by the Little Sprouts family. My condolences to her family and loved ones.

My family and I send our condolences to the Mark family. I had the amazing opportunity to live with Melissa last year at UVM and although she was fighting many battles she always knew how to make me laugh. I am so grateful that she was a part of my life and I will never forget the memories that we share. She really made my first year at UVM special because I got to live with someone who was so strong and caring. She was a truly inspiring human being and I'm so glad that I get to say she was my friend. May she rest in peace.

I was blessed to have known Melissa and her family back when she was just a baby. She was a sweet, brilliant, gentle and determined baby. As she grew, her mom brought her to visit me from time to time at Clarke School and I continued to be amazed by her accomplishments and touched by the beauty of who she was. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to know her. When she was a young adult, I connected with her on Facebook and also heard about her challenges and successes from our mutual friends. She was so special and so rare, I can't even find the words to adequately describe her. Watching her fight her way back after her terrible seizure and accident was awe-inspiring. I've never known someone so determined and strong. Hearing of her passing today brought me to my knees. It seems so unfair to me in this moment. I know she touched so many people's lives like mine and we are better for it. She will never be forgotten. The painted rock she made me when she was in kindergarten has been a constant on my desk at work, even as my office has changed many times. It will remind me daily to be positive, gentle, determined and kind, like Melissa. I am so sorry. Rest in sweet peace, Melissa. My love, thoughts and prayers are with Melissa's family and with her friends.
