Rest in Peace Mike. You were a great friend and mentor.
We shared many wonderful memories at Camp Merrimac, where we were both counselors. Mike's enthusiasm and passion for mentoring young campers were truly remarkable.
Those summers at Camp Merrimac were filled with laughter, adventures, and unforgettable moments, all made better by Mike's presence.
Mike, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit will remain with us always.

I'm sorry to learn of Mike's death. Knew him since PS 106 Kindergarten--through Science. Then we reconnected when I moved to California. A long time.

Mike was the unofficial recorder of our very rural community in Mesa Grande, CA. He and Barbara were the first neighbors to welcome us and share the Rncho Loma culture. We will greatly miss Mike's gentle guidance and friendship and the gatherings Barbara hosted at their place.

As a former docent at Palomar I agree with what Kin said. Interesting timing that Mike always wanted to be at Palomar on opening day of our summer tours, and that Saturday, June 3rd was a special VIP tour celebrating 75 years. We had been closed to tours for over 3 years. I am sure he was there in spirit.

I am a fellow docent at Palomar Observatory. Mike Bertin was special. He was a great docent and teacher and a real part of our Palomar culture. We will miss his wit, suspenders, and kickoff cakes. Farewell good friend.
