I was just searching for Dr. Bohnert as my mom used to see him prior to 2019 and she continues to struggle. I am so sad to see that he passed away last year. He really was a great doctor, very caring, took things seriously, and was available for his patients any time. It was always a pleasure seeing him. I send my belated condolences to all his family and friends. We lost a good one. Its not easy finding a good mental health doctor!

I just recently found out about Michael's passing. It's has been many years since I've seen Michael and Dawn, but I have never forgotten them. I loved the way he and Dawn loved and cared for each other. Michael was one of the loveliest people I'd ever met - he really was so special. He was kind, intelligent, and so so funny. He was one of those people that made the world a better place just by being here. I'm so sorry that he's gone.

I was Dr. Bohnert's patient for over 15 years. I would not be exaggerating when I say he saved my life. His sage advice and compassionate care were the corner stones of my recovery.
I wish to send my condolences to his family. I hope they find some peace in knowing that we all had richer lives because of him.

I worked with Michael Bohnert at the (then) Counseling Center for a few years. During that time, I really enjoyed interacting with Dr. Bohnert as he was one of the most easy going people I have met. His calm demeanor made him approachable. Any time Dr. Bohnert would ask something of me, and I would complete the task, he would always say "Thanks Michele, you're a peach!" For all his surviving family members and closest friends, please know, you were truly blessed to have this man in your lives!

Coworker does not quite reflect the relationship that I had with Dr. Bohnert. He was my doctor and a trusted confidant for over 10 years. I only saw him every 3 months but it was always a pleasure to sit and talk with him after we got the "business" part out of the way. He and I bonded over our shared love of the city of Philadelphia as I was born and raised there and when he found out, he told me wonderful stories about some of the places he went as a much younger man and student at the University of Pennsylvania. I was deeply saddened to hear of his loss though it has been some time since we parted as doctor and patient and he turned me over to the capable hands of his trusted colleague, Dr. Ellen. I will always think of Dr. Bohnert fondly and send my deepest regrets to his family on their loss.

We send our deepest condolences to you. The thought of Michael will always bring a smile to our faces. We will always remember the fun we had with you both, dining and concert going, but especially the good times when you rented the house down the street from us. May your memories of him bring you comfort and happiness. We hope the days ahead will not be too difficult for you.
Much love, Mel and Bill Berg

I am so grateful for the times that Dr. Bohnert and I were able to connect when working to best serve those seeking assistance from our shared fields. He was both consummately professional and unerringly compassionate. To those who knew him well (and much better than I), you are very lucky.

Mike was my best friend/co-worker at Westwood Lodge for many years and covered my patients for about 30 years. I knew that my patients were in the hands of a caring, smart, up to date physician while I was away. In addition, he was a funny and caring friend who always had time for you or to tell a story that was entertaining and amusing. He was always full of life and energy and lived his life well and fully. He made a great contribution to his profession and the world and will be missed by the many family, friends, co-workers and patients with whom he came in contact.

Mike and I were best friends since elementary school in Jasper, Indiana. Our lives followed very different courses, but over the years, we both felt the need to keep in touch. As fate would have it, we both ended up in Boston. Throughout the seventies and eighties, we shared the experience of discovering all the treats that city life had to offer a couple of small town bozos like us.
We were young then. As the years flew by, we always remained in close contact, even after I left Boston and eventually ended up in Oregon.
I will miss him. He became what he wanted to become. He lived the life he wanted to live. One of his final delights was the Carolina Wren outside the window of the house he and Dawn bought on the Vineyard.
So I wish to propose a toast to Mike in celebration of a life well lived. I will relish my memories of him as a lifelong friend who thoroughly enjoyed his time on earth.
