The funeral was a great send-off for Fr. Mike today. Great music, very down to earth and heartwarming- the way he would have liked it. It was great to see all the priests who were his friends and classmates, and the sisters who cared for him. I was glad to be a part of it, to be reminded that Fr Doocey would always say "God is good", and to rejoice in the fact that he has finally gotten his well-deserved reward. He will be forever in our hearts.

Hey there Uncle Mike, I thank God for lending you to both your families...your Church Family and your Biological Family. You truly were a man of great passion in your love of God and His people. As you journey on to your assigned place next to your Father God, may friends and relatives still living rejoice in knowing we have a wonderful priest/ brother/uncle interceeding to God on our behalf. Much love /peace. Your niece.

Father Doocey always held a very special place in my heart. He taught, coached and married my parents and then in later years married my husband and I and even made time to come back to his old parish to perform a celebration of life mass for our Mom. His smiling face and absolutely true kindness is what I will always remember. May he rest in peace.

Fr. Doocey was a wonderful counselor, confessor and friend to me as I went through Sacred Heart High School, college and beyond. He was the most influential person in my life other than my husband. and I’ll always be grateful for his guidance. He married us almost 35 years ago and baptized our 4 children. He will always be in my heart and my prayers. May he rest in peace with God whom he served so well.

I knew and loved Fr. Doocey at Sacred Heart - he checked on me every day I worked at the rectory to be sure that I was on task! He performed my marriage and baptized my son - long after I had moved from Newton. He was a shining example of a man of God.

Father Doocey was a close family friend over the years often stopping by and sharing dinner with us. He and his family were neighbors of both my parents families growing up in Jamaica Plain and he was the altar boy at my parents wedding back in 1946!!! That great smile will be missed. God Bless You.

Father Doocey was a great guy and a wonderful role model. I still have warm memories of him shooing us all off the court of the gym (because we had our street shoes on) at the Bishop McKenzie Center of Sacred Heart Parish. He kept that gym in perfect condition --which we appreciated as it was the central location for much of our youth. I lost touch with him when I joined the Navy after graduation from Sacred Heart in 1968. I would hear about him when I went home and was saddened to hear of his illness. He was a fine priest and a great American. We will all miss him.

Father Doocey became one of my best friends at Sacred Heart. He was a brilliant priest and I will never forget his smile and his laugh! I have wonderful memories of Father Doocey taking a bunch of us to the beach in Gloucester and down the Cape. May God bless you Father - I truly cherish all the memories.

Dear Father,
I always thought of you as my big sister's buddy. Carol worked in the Rectory at Sacred Heart, and talked about you reverently--and yet as if you were our big brother. I am glad and grateful for your influence in her life. As for me, I just remember you as the young priest who always smiled. Shine on in heaven, Father!

I remember Fr. Doocey in my junior high years while at Sacred Heart Newton. A vivid memory was how he would organize the boys to 'put down the tarp' over the gym floor in McKenzie Center for events and then 'take up the tarp'. What a production. I appreciated his influence in my life. May Fr. Doocey put in a good word for all of us in heaven!

As our Dad's best friend, Father Doocey was like an uncle to us growing up. His gentle and giving spirit had a great impact on our lives. He later married us all and baptised most of our children. We will continue to miss his presence in our lives.

Fr. Doocey was my family’s priest and friend at Sacred Heart. I’ll never forget the endless hours at the Parish Center; I can still see him unlocking the doors for “the kids”. Father Mike graciously officiated at wedding and baptisms even after we had moved from Newton. May God bless you with eternal peace and may you always be “unlocking doors” for all the Sacred Heart “kids”.

Fr. Doocey was so much a part of our childhood. Every event at Sacred Heart was monitored by this great man. After leaving Sacred Heart we fell out of touch with him, but would hear of his work in another parish. We are saddened and hope his family is remembering his wonderful nature, we are.
