On behalf of the Healy family, we extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the entire Heffernan family on Mike's sad passing. Mr. Heffernan was always kind, witty, strong and empathetic! He truly led a wonderful life. But perhaps his greatest accomplishment was his Family. They were all mini-Mikes and Betty too! Clearly, one of Needham’s Founding Families...God Bless and may Mr. Heffernan Rest in Peace.

What a captain of an incredible family. There always seemed to be light shining from your clan, with your parents at the center of that. Mike Sr. did so much for Needham - thanks to him for a life so well spent. We send you our deepest condolences and wish for you all strength and hearts full of wonderful memories.

When we reflect on Mike and his legacy, the very first thoughts we have are family.....and Betty. With all of his many achievements during his lifetime, the one that stands out to us is the extraordinary family that he and Betty built and presided over.
Built on love, excellence, achievement, responsibility, effort and grace, the Heffernan's make an enormous and positive impact on everyone they meet. You can tell there is something different about them, and there is.... Mike and Betty's secret sauce.
They presided over the Heffernan family for 60 over years, with ease and welcoming smiles and hugs, leading by example.
Message sent and received.
Mike and Betty sent their children off into the world to make a difference, treat people they meet with kindness, lend a helping hand when needed, and be role models based on core family values, effort and grace.
Lesson learned and like the pebble in the pond, the Swartz family will continue expanding Mike's legacy.
With love,
Jeff and Pam Swartz

What a guy !
Best life attitude, always a smile on his face and an encouraging word for us who were lucky enough to be friends with that great clan, he was a prince of a person, topped only by Betty who was the lucky lady who shared his life. What a pair !!
More smiles than tears for all the “Heffs” who enjoyed so many memories with Big Mike. Remember all the times he’d walk into a field to watch you play, didn’t you know then that all was well in the world. What strength he brought to all he knew.
A rare and extraordinary man and I was blessed to know him growing up.

We are so sorry for your loss. We had the pleasure of meeting Mike just a few times. My best recollection of him was his sense of humor and he seemed to always be smiling. Maria spoke so highly of him and his obituary is so impressive.
The Gomez family sends its love and prayers....
