MICHAEL QUINN Obituary

QUINN, Michael D. "Quinny" A longtime resident of Hull, died suddenly on May 15, 2016. He was 61. Mike grew up in Groton, NY and graduated from Groton High School in 1972. He moved to Boston in 1974 with a group of Grateful Dead loving buddies from his hometown. Mike was a talented singer and musician, playing guitar and harmonica. He was a member of various bands that played in and around Boston. Most people would often hear Mike's signature whistle long before he came into view. He was an avid fisherman, who told outrageous fishing tales to anyone who would believe him. His incredibly quick wit will be sorely missed; he could make anyone laugh out loud with one of his, usually inappropriate, one-liners. Mike was an employee at Boston University's Mugar Library for over 30 years. One of his proudest moments was watching his twin daughters graduate from BU in 2009. Mike is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nancy Donovan Quinn; his daughters Caitlin Quinn Dunn and her husband Joe, and Cassidy Quinn Bilodeau and her husband Matt, of Hull. He also leaves behind his grandson Owen Bilodeau of Hull; sisters Sally Quinn Farrell of Groton, NY, and Mary Quinn Vella and her husband Tony Famiglietti of Trumansburg, NY, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents Jerome and Barbara Quinn of Groton, NY. A memorial service in honor of Mike will be held Saturday, June 4th at 2pm at the Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club, 3 Fitzpatrick Way, in Hull, MA. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hull High School with "Music Award" in the memo to be put towards a scholarship for the most talented male and female musicians at Hull High. Checks can be sent to Hull High School, 180 Main Street, Hull, MA 02045. See www.Keohane.com or call 1-800-Keohane for directions and online condolences.

It is with a very heavy heart I read of Mikey's passing. Nancy, my heart goes out to you. It has been so long, but the years hanging with Mike and Job and Victor and all the gang are so much a part of my life it is hard to imagine him not here on this earth with you. I hope with all my heart you feel him around you and somehow that is a comfort. He was a wonderful person and could always make me laugh. Hugs to you all. love Donna Razeto

Growing up in Groton, The Quinn family household was my second home. Lots of great memories, especially when Nancy and Mike brought the twins to Owasco Lake and rented a camp. My condolences to the entire family. My heart felt sympathy during this terrible time of sorrow. Find peace in all the great memories. Love Judy Goodsell

I'm so sorry for your loss. I didn't personally know Michael, but a mutual friend of ours (TK) often spoke of him fondly... with an occasional funny story and/or special memory. Having lost a loved one a couple of years back, I just wanted to let you all know that he will live on through those stories and memories. And, in time, those memories will warm your hearts and brighten your days.
