MICKEY CAIL Obituary

CAIL, Mickey Of Boca Raton, FL and Newton, MA entered into rest on July 28, 2021. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lois (Ghen) Cail. Devoted father of Faith Kaplan and her husband Bernard, and his son Matthew Cail. He was the cherished grandfather of Jenna Kaplan, Ilyse Kennedy and her husband Brandon and Maximillian Galer-Cail. He was the great-grandfather of Camilla and Levi Kennedy.

Mickey was the son of the late Lena and Joseph Cohen. He was predeceased by his sister Ruth Kaplan and his brother Danny Cohen.

Mickey was born in Revere and graduated from Northeastern University in 1945. He was a founder of Northeastern Hillel House and later a member of the Board of Trustees of Northeastern. He played basketball in high school, tennis for most of his life and bridge and golf into his 98th year. He had many friends but closest to him was his intimate group known as the 4M's.

Mickey founded Air Conditioning Contractors and Cail Realty. He mentored his daughter Faith for many years who now heads Cail Realty along with assistance from her brother Matthew.

Mickey had a passion for life and was always optimistic. His optimism, laughter and caring for others was contagious. He always advised those around him don't wait for things to happen, make things happen.

He self-published 2 books. Both emphasized living positively and helping others. It gave him great joy to give the book to family, friends and all he met.

Most important to Mickey was philanthropy and helping others. He worked tirelessly to help others and better the community. He was a founder of the Chestnut Hill Lodge of B'nai B'rith, President of Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly, Chair of the Hebrew College Board, Vice President and Board member of Combined Jewish Philanthropies, and served on the Executive Board of the Anti-Defamation League. Mickey co-chaired Hebrew College's building campaign and helped build the Gosman Campus at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton.

In his free time, Mickey loved to travel with his wife and children. He visited Israel multiple times, including leading CJP missions to Israel including welcoming Ethiopian Jews to Israel and traveling to Russia to meet with Refuseniks.

A special thank you to Christina Lyn who cared and protected him in his last years.

Mickey leaves a great void with his family, friends and community. Funeral arrangements are private. Donations may be made to 2Life Communities, Hebrew College and JCC Greater Boston.
