MIDELLE MOORE Obituary

MOORE, Midelle "Delle" Age 60, of Mashpee, MA, died at home on Saturday, October 29, 2016, after a brief illness. Delle was born in Waltham, MA, a daughter of John Lovell Moore, Jr. and Hope Trumbull Moore. Delle graduated from Westminster Schools, Atlanta, GA, and earned her bachelor's degree at Middlebury College in Vermont, where she played lacrosse. She worked in the insurance field for many years in Boston, and New Bedford after enjoying a year working in England for Lloyd's of London. She earned her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA. As a Licensed Mental Health Clinician, Delle enjoyed her work in human services, specifically treating those with mental illness and/or problematic drug and alcohol use. For the last five years, Delle served as the Clinical Director of HabitOpco in South Yarmouth, MA. She was well known for her ability to connect with all people and served as an inspiration to many, with her thoughtful, eloquent, witty extemporaneous speaking style. She was a highly sought after speaker in home groups on the Upper Cape, and South Coast. Most recently, she was fed by bringing her message of hope to incarcerated women. An avid tennis player, she also enjoyed golf, was passionate about jigsaw puzzles, reading, gardening, and took great pride in her home. Delle was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Memorial Church, Falmouth, MA. She served as Chair of the Newcomer's Committee, and Lay Eucharistic Minister. Most recently, Delle participated in the Outreach Committee at Church of the Messiah, Woods Hole, MA. Delle leaves behind her wife, Susan (Sue) E. O'Brien of Falmouth and Mashpee, three children: Lindsay Hope Cassell Melone and her husband Brian and their beautiful boys Gregory, Zachary and Benjamin of West Boylston, MA, Peter Moore Cassell of Dedham, MA, and Thomas Winsor Cassell of Boston, MA. In addition, she leaves her step-children: Caitlyn K. O'Brien of Brighton, MA, and James P. O'Brien of North Falmouth, MA. Delle also leaves four siblings and their families. Julia Moore and Jock Herron and their son Levi of Cambridge, MA, Johnnie Moore Hawkins and his husband Ashton Hawkins of Manhattan, NY, Walter Trumbull Moore, wife Barrie and their children Christina and Caroline of Redwood City, CA, and Philip Winsor Moore, wife Grace and their son William of Reno, Nevada. Delle also leaves behind numerous cousins and her great aunt Gertrude (Buddie) Burr of Mattapoisett, MA. There will be a service in celebration of Delle's life at 11:00, November 12, 2016 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Memorial Church, 91 West Main Street, Falmouth, MA.

Though I'd only met Delle about three years ago, she quickly became a power of example and a source of strength to me. I was saddened to hear of her sudden illness and death. So young, so much life, and so much to give. May you rest gently, Delle, in the knowledge that you gave more than you ever took.
