I knew Nate back in the early 90's when his band, Who Be Dat, used to rehearse and record at my studio, Eden Sound in Newtonville MA. I didn't know him that well, but remember him as very funny, engaging and talented. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, and my heartfelt condolences go out to those who were close to him.
Another gifted, unique man gone way too soon.

hello. this is jeffrey clemens. i am probably nate's oldest friend in the world. i've known nate since first grade, randolph, mass (1969). i wrote a long guestbook entry back in february, that never got posted, somehow. nate and i were attached at the hip from 1969, all the way til the mid 1990's. we went to grades 1-12 together. we moved into the city (boston) at the same time, maybe around 1988 or 1989. we drove taxi cabs together. played in a band together. nate worked for another band of mine for several years, taking care of our equipment, and travelling around the usa and europe with us. he even lived and stayed in my house in new orleans, in the late 1990's, for a spell. nate was deeply intense, very smart, and very passionate about the things he believed in. i could go on for days. i have a million nate stories. one funny story comes to mind...around the time we were 18 or 19, and the brakes on my 1974 dodge dart were giving me trouble...nate decided it would be a good idea to put power steering fluid in my master cylinder...leaving me with no brakes at all...NATE!! we'll miss you and love you. always did. always will. my sincere condolences to 'shelle. mel, randy, and carolyn.

Dear Shelly, Randi, and family,
I just heard about Nathan's passing, and I'm so very sorry for your loss. I wish that I had known sooner so that I could have attended the services. Even though we haven't been in contact for several years, I think about all of you very often. I enjoyed the times spent at your home in Randolph, and Nathan brought a special "vibe" to the holidays whenever he came home. He was very talented and funny, and I know will be missed by everyone.

Nate,
You use to call me your Strawberry Princess. It use to make me laugh so hard when you would say chocolate or vanilla and i'd say strawberry, and you would say it figures. I still love my strawberry icecream. You use to be one of my favorite people to hang out with when I was just a little girl. You made my bathroom a master piece with my mom. Every time I walk in my bathroom I will think of you. I will see you soon Nate ... But not soon enough. Until then I will miss you bunches.

Nate,
We will miss your ever present smile, the way you lit up a room when you entered and the way you made everyone feel special – even “Wild Man” Andrew. If you run across the Big Guy in the Starbucks in Heaven, please ask if you can join Him for an espresso. I’m sure that you will have many questions for Him but please be sure that you take a moment to ask Him to keep an eye on Carolyn and lend her a hand as she tries to cope with you absence. Carolyn is strong and we’ll do our best down here to help her but any help you can arrange would be great.

To everyone these moments are the hardest moments in life. No one will ever understand the reasons why. I sometimes feel that all the truly good people go early becasue they have other important missions/feats to accomplish. The remarkable people that touch our lives in unexplainable ways continue to keep chaninging our lives, death opens us up to a new understanding of why was he here for such a short time. Be there for each other and learn from Nathan and all the good he brough into your live and others.

I had only wonderful times with Nathan and fond thoughts of him. We traveled together, we played music together and we had so many crazy fun times together.
Because he encouraged me to learn play bass I had a career in music. Because we traveled together to Los Angeles I eventually decided to move there and am there still. Nathan influenced me, encouraged me and inspired me. He was a spark of energy that made me want to do cool things.
I hadn't talked to Nate for years until last year when he found me on facebook. I am glad that we were able to reconnect for a little while. He seemed happy when I talked to him.
It feels terrible talking about him in the past tense but I know that he continues on within all of us.
We will all miss his presence in the world.
My condolences to Randi his mom and dad. I have met you all and know how terribly you will miss him.
