Norma Jessen Obituary

Norma Lee Jessen passed away on July 10, 2010 in Springfield, Mo., at Cox South at the age of 72. Norma was born at Fifty Six, Ark., on April 13, 1938 to Carl Ward and Cubye Lynch Ward. She spent her youth in the Mountain View, Ark. area where she married Bobby Ray Jessen, her husband of 54 years. She was saved at the age of 15 at the Fifty Six Missionary Baptist Church and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seymour, Mo. Norma was a devoted wife, mother, granny and community volunteer. A few of the groups that benefited from her generosity included the local volunteer fire department, the annual Fordland Easter Egg Hunt, and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed working in the yard, her volunteer work, and cooking for her family. She is survived by her husband, Bob Jessen and three sons, Mike Jessen and wife Melanie of Eminence, Mo., Ed Jessen and wife Ruby of Diggins, Mo., and Wayne Jessen of Mountain Grove, Mo.; she was blessed with nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren; one sister and three brothers; other relatives and many friends. Services are at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in the First Baptist Church in Seymour, Mo., with Pastors Jay Adrain and Keith Adamson officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery near Fordland, Mo. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday (today) in Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour, Mo.
