Bampa,
I don't think I will get to see you before I leave for the Trek on Friday. I submitted some photos of you for the slide show. If everyone pays me, I will have raised over a thousand dollars for the Lung Association in your honour. I will try to make my way to you next week. Love you loads.

Hey Bampa sorry it took so long for me to write this but it’s been hard. It’s been over a month since you passed away but the pain is the same as the moment you left us. This is only the second time I’ve come to see you but I’ll be here as much as possible I promise. I’m leaving for Ohio soon something like 17 days or so. I wish you were here so I could say goodbye. Day after day I wish I had just one more day with you; 0ne more day to talk about life, about school, about sports, about the family, about anything. I would give anything to hear your voice just once more, to see you smile once more, to tell you how much I love you. I think about all the good times we had messing around in the doctor’s office, watching the sox or the pats, driving around in the cruiser at the hospital, we always had a good time. I’ll never forget everything you’ve taught me and said to me, never. I miss you so much I just want to sit and talk to you. You truly are the best grandfather ever. You were so much more than that you were and always will be my best friend. Through thick and thin you were always there to watch me play little league and basketball and soccer, even through all my doctor’s appointments you were always right beside me. It hurts to think of all that you won’t be there for, for when I graduate from Ohio State, when I get married, when I have kids everything. Your memory will always be with me even if you can’t be. I will make you proud someday I promise. i hope I can be as caring and considerate and loving as you were. “Family First” that’s what you always said to me and I swear I’ll live by that for the rest of my life. I hope somehow you can understand how much I miss you and wish I could see you. Everyone tells me I look just like you. I hope you are watching over me like everyone says you are because I swear I can’t imagine spending a day without you, even though you aren’t here at least I know you will always be with me in heart and mind. I got a tattoo for you it’s going to be amazing I need to get it finished though and one of my friends drew me an amazing picture in your memory. So no matter where I am you will always be with me watching over me through the good times and bad through all of the happiness and sorrow. I could go on and on but I’ll end here for now. I’ll write to you as much as possible and pray that you can hear all that I say. I can’t say goodbye so it’s and I’ll talk to you later. I love you so much and miss you every day.
Love Always,
Justin
I love you Bampa.

Always a good time had when Bampa was around.

Dear Mrs. Colborne, John David, Sr., Cheryl, Julia, Lovey and family,

While I did not have the good fortune to know you Mrs. Colborne and your daughters all that well, your lives touched mine as a result of a blessed friendship I have shared with your son and brother, John, and his loving and supportive wife Donna.
That being said, I need to say that in each of our lives we can only hope that we leave a legacy of some sort behind. I am so sure that Mr. Colborne (Orland)has clearly done that. The amazing, selfless man I have come to know in John is a miraculous legacy that truly honors Mr. Colborne's memory and life, as well as yours Mrs. Colborne. It is never the grand gestures of giving that seem to touch our hearts the most, but rather the small random acts of compassion that fill our hearts forever. John is the most loving, generous and compassionate man I know. He is a devoted husband and an incredible father to his beautiful son, John David. I am proud to call him "friend" and honored by his friendship. Your husband and father, while I did not know him well, has left an amazing legacy behind in his son and family. Thank you for allowing me to share my love and gratitude and to honor Mr. Colborne's memory.

Love and Peace,

Lu

Dear Aunt Peg, Lovey, Cheryl, Johnny, Julia and families,
I recently ran across a picture of Uncle Orland at Mom and Pop's house in Bay Village. He was standing up in the living room, holding Taryn. He was so good at consoling cranky babies; he rocked them back and forth in his arms and talked gently to them. (but then, maybe it was that "strange" Boston accent they found amusing)
We are thinking of all of you and comforted knowing that you are so close to one another for support.
Love,
Steve and Doreen

John, Your father was a fine gentleman. It was very sad news to hear he has passed away. We spent our early lives going through the Melrose schools together and in our spare time we chummed and played in the neighborhood. We graduated in the same class of "51" and he went to work at the Melrose Army and Navy Store. He went into the Marine Corp and I into the Army. I am so sorry I didnt make time to meet you and the rest of his family. My fond memories of him will always be with me. Wishing you and your family comfort in your time of need. From

Dear Peg, Lovey, John & Donna, Cheryl & Jim, Julia & all of the Grandchildren:

Although the last few years for Orland were filled with medical difficluties and uncertainty, he was fortunate to have a family that continued to show their love and affection for him. Fran & I fondly remember our New England visits, the trips to various places of interest. The family meals, the level of concern that you all have for each other. Certainly Orland has left you a wonderful legacy to cherish and to build on.

We mourn with you for the loss of your husband, father, & grandfather. We rejoice with you for the promise of his Glory through our Lord.

Our deepest sympathies are with Aunt Peg and all your family as you mourn the loss of Uncle Orland. I will always remember visiting Boston as a little girl and having him take me on walks on the beach to find lucky pebbles. He was such a kind, caring man. I hope you all are able to gain strength from each other and from the many wonderful memories you have.

Bampa,
I came to say Hi. I miss you SO much. You ARE the best grandfather ever. I think of you constantly - Little things like our Butter Rum Life Savers remind me of you, haha. I miss coming to see you all the time. I feel lost without you. I promise I will still come visit all the time. I love the times we spent together and will remember them forever. I miss our talks and hiding the holter monitor on the nurse with you and Mike, just one fun memory of thousands. You have taught me stuff you dont even know that I will use all thru life. And I know you will always be with me. I promise I will be there for and help my family whenever they need it, they are the best (I am so grateful to have them & am glad we are as close as we are) and I don't know what I would do without them, Mike, and Diane thru this rough time. I refuse to say goodbye so I will talk to you later. I LOVE YOU, always. Miss you so much! Love, Chrissie

Dad you wont be able to read this but maybe you know what i am thinking-there are so many memories of good times i'd like to share our trips to ohio when we all sleeped in the back seat of the car on the bed you made-the time we wenting camping in the station wagon in the back yard-driving lessons-dont forget driving billy and i to the prom and picking us. up. So many things you taught me how to change a radiator on a car and much more, remember the time johnny and i waxed the brand new car with ajax for you and mom. our memories are good and some may be bad but there our memories to keep locked in our hearts forever love you see you some day not to soon got a lot more memories to make in this world for dena to treasure.

bampa. He was the best grandfather and best friend anyone could have asked for; he was always there when I needed him. The memories of our adventures are many. He would take my sister and I fishing and hiking in the woods. He would bring us sledding and to the playground. When it came time to learn to drive, he was there and brought me for my road test. Bampa was the one I would call whenever something good or bad happened. Growing up, he was like a father to Jewell and I. If only everyone could be as lucky to have such an awesome grandfather.
