PATRICIA HATHAWAY Obituary

HATHAWAY, Patricia Anne After a long and courageous battle with both cancer and Parkinson's Disease, Patricia Anne Hathaway of Merrimack, NH, passed away on June 28, 2024. She was born on April 17, 1940, the daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Lightfoot) Foley, and was raised in Marblehead, MA. Pat moved to Nashua, NH, 50 years ago when she married her beloved husband, Jack. A lifelong educator, Pat first taught at the Bell School in Marblehead after graduating from Salem State College. She went on to teach 5th grade at Birch Hill Elementary School, until she retired in 2000. Pat was a longtime member and supporter of the Alpha Delta Kappa honorary teacher's sorority, finding great joy in supporting fellow teachers and furthering their mission to assist children in need. Pat is survived by Jack, two daughters, and a son-in-law: Katie Hathaway of Arlington, VA and Chrissy and Tim Durepo of Framingham, MA. She also leaves behind her brother, Bill Foley, and his wife Gail of Saugus, MA, their children Andrea Tenaglia and Greg Foley; and a multitude of dear friends too numerous to acknowledge by name. In addition to spending time with her family, Pat loved gardening and traveling. She made cooking and entertaining seem effortless. Every meal prepared by Pat was accompanied by laughter and good cheer; every party she hosted created special memories for all who were in her company. Pat's legacy is one of selflessness and care for others. She touched many lives with her kindness and compassion, setting an example of how to live a life full of love and generosity. Pat will be deeply missed by so many, but she will be forever remembered for the beautiful impact she had on those around her. The expressions of love and support shared with Pat's family throughout her illness, especially in her final days, have meant the world to them, and they will forever be grateful. A Celebration of Pat's Life will be held at the LaBelle Winery in Amherst, NH, from 12 noon - 3 pm on July 28th. All who knew and loved Pat are welcome. Donations in her memory may be made to the Community Hospice House, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054 or online at www.hhhc.org Kindly visit rivetfuneralhome.com to leave an online condolence for the family.

We were blessed to have many great teachers growing up in the Nashua school system, and there’s no doubt Mrs. Hathaway was one of them. She found that elusive balance between challenging and encouraging us, and did this consistently everyday. Godspeed Mrs. Hathaway, and condolences to the family. Best, Kris & Jen Hallee

Pat was my team teaching partner when I began as a first year teacher at the Bell School in Marblehead. She was a great mentor and person, whose professionalism, patience and friendship gave me such a positive start in my new profession.
(And she also introduced me to the Boston Bruins and the great game of Ice Hockey!)
My condolences to the family.

Mrs Hathaway was an incredible teacher. I remember her allowing me to try new things and think in creative ways while learning. A true teacher who always had a huge heart for all of us. Her classroom was a home away from home for me as she always made sure all of us had a smile on our face daily. When we would get an answer correct I remember a quick thumbs up and a huge smile. This meant the world to me knowing she was rooting for me to succeed in my education. To the Hathaway family, I want to thank you for allowing Mrs Hathaway to have such an impact on my learning adventure and please note she will never be forgotten as a great and find memory fo my childhood.

Jack, Katie and Chrissy, so saddened to hear of Pat’s passing. We have such fond memories of the ski trips, school outings and get togethers when the girls were growing up. She was an amazing person who brought great joy and wisdom to all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing always. The Lasky’s

Pat, It’s with a heavy heart
that I say goodbye to the dearest “Amigo.” The friendship that you, Maureen and I had will continue to be treasured by us forever. You were the most special of friends mixed in with large doses of laughter and love for each other.
Rest well my friend until we meet again.
