Patricia JAROCH Obituary

JAROCH, Patricia After a life very well and graciously lived, Patricia "Patti" Sullivan Jaroch died peacefully, at a hospice facility, on October 27, with family at her bedside. She was 81 years old and had lived in Belmont for more than 53 years.

A 1966 graduate of Emmanuel College, Patti was married late that year to Tim Jaroch, who was then a Lieutenant (Jg.) in the Navy. Patti used her degree in biology in several different jobs until Tim was in law school and their first child, Christopher, was born. They would have three more sons: Darren, Jonathan (Jay), and Bryan. Because family meant everything to her, she gave up her career to devote herself to raising her four sons and supporting Tim's career as an attorney. Kind and witty and with a winning smile, Patti made friends easily throughout her life.

With the birth of her first grandchild, Madelyn, in 2003, a wonderful new chapter in Patti's life story began. There would eventually be ten grandchildren in all. They called her "Nonny," and Patti was a devoted grandmother. She relished her time hosting her growing family, whether in Belmont or at the home that she and Tim helped design on Martha's Vineyard.

Patti and Tim were married for almost 59 years. He survives her, along with the family she loved so dearly: Christopher and his wife, Deborah of Darien, Connecticut with Andrew, Tatum and Matthew; Darren and his wife, Jennifer of Acton, Massachusetts with Madelyn and Allison; Jay and his wife, Heather of Los Angeles, California and Alajuela, Costa Rica with Wilson and Luca; and Bryan and his wife, Laura of West Hartford, Connecticut with Brendan, Caden and Shea.

Plans for a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In recognition of the remarkable care given to Patti at Winchester Hospital, the family invites donations to be made in memory of Patti to the Winchester McDonough Fund for Nurse Education. Please make checks payable to "Winchester Hospital," with "McDonough Fund for Nurse Education" in the memo line, and mail contributions to Winchester Hospital, Office of Philanthropy, 529 Main Street, 4th Floor, Charlestown, MA 02129. Donations can also be made online at Giving.WinchesterHospital.org Click on "Make a Gift" and note the McDonough Fund for Nurse Education.

We remember Patti as a wonderful cook.(We still have her "Graduation Chicken" in our recipe box.) She was someone who always looked elegant, even in her morning bathrobe. She was also a welcoming hostess in Belmont, and on Martha´s Vineyard. She and Tim raised four wonderful sons! We will miss her spirit.

My heart breaks for Tim and the rest of the Jaroch family. Patti was a wonderful woman, and she will surely be missed. Patti and I would often talk about football as she was a huge Patriots fan, just like me. One Christmas, Patti gifted me a Dooney & Bourke Patriots purse, I told Tim I only use it during football season because it was special. Each time I look at it, I will think of Patti and what a thoughtful, kind, generous, and loving woman she was. Rest in Peace Patti.

What a wonderful woman, mother and grandmother. She was a second mom to so many of us growing up in Belmont. Always greeting us with a smile, kind words and her famous brownies. She will be missed but so fondly remembered.
